Brigitte in Overwatch 2 can create an unbreakable shield thanks to Kiriko

She will be your shield...permanently.
Brigitte Overwatch 2

Kiriko is proving to be an unstoppable exploitative menace in Overwatch 2, after recently creating a buggy interaction with Mei’s Ice Wall (and subsequently removing her from the game). On top of this Mei exploit, there’s now a newly discovered bug in Overwatch 2 with Brigitte and her shield, which becomes unbreakable thanks to Kiriko’s ultimate. To clarify, the bug allows Brigitte to put up her shield early after being destroyed, and worst of all, her shield can be invulnerable.

Initially discovered on the Not Muda YouTube channel, the bug occurs while Brigitte’s shield is destroyed while under the effects of Kiriko’s ultimate. Kiriko’s ultimate, Kitsune Rush, has an additional effect that lowers the cooldowns of heroes while they are in its area of effect. Because of this, Brigitte can put her shield back up before the regen kicks in. While her shield is put up in this state, it cannot be destroyed.

Mace to the face

While the bug does sound absolutely terrifying, it, fortunately, does not seem too game-breaking and exploitable. While noteworthy players like Dafran have certainly gotten shafted by this bug before, there are limitations to the unbreakable shield of Brigitte while under this state as outlined in the video. For example, Brigitte cannot shield bash while using this invulnerable shield. The ability will activate, but it will have no effect and only make a noise. Brigitte also must keep her shield up indefinitely, or the shield will begin to regen and she will lose her invulnerability.

So far, Blizzard’s attention seems to be placed solely on Mei, as she was recently removed from the game while the team searches for a fix. Hopefully, Brigitte doesn’t fall under the same fate and gets to stay in Overwatch 2. But I can’t lie, it would be amusing to see another character removed due to a problem that mostly lies with Kiriko. Meanwhile, for a visual look at how the bug works, you can check out the original video below.
