Castle Crashers will crash its way onto Steam

Maybe using the word “crash” around videogames is a bad idea … oh well. The Behemoth has announced today that their mega-hit game Castle Crashers (played by something like 2.8 million people now) will be coming to Steam at some point in the future. When in the future? “I’d say a release date but the future’s unknown,” writes Behemoth’s Dan Paladin, before rhyming it with “If I make a mistake I shall never atone.”

It’ll be the same side-scrolling 2.5D hack’n’slash fest it was on the Xbox 360 and (later) PlayStation 3, with unlockable characters, a bunch of weapons, fun bosses and adorable “animal orb” pals. Plus, a couple of Steam-related features like these:

  • Integrated voice chat
  • Steam Achievements
  • Gamepad support
  • Steam Cloud Support
  • Local and Online Multiplayer

No word yet on whether the DLC characters will be integrated into this PC release (as sometimes happens), or on price (likely to be in the $10-15 USD range).

Here are some system requirements though:

  • OS: Windows XP / Vista / 7 / 8
  • Processor: Dual Core Processor 2GHz+
  • Memory: 1GB
  • Hard Disk Space: 300MB
  • Video Card: Graphics: 256 MB dedicated directx 9.0c compatible card
  • Sound: DirectX 9.0 compatible sound card
