Champions Online RPG Book Shelved

Hero Games has announced that plans for their book, the Champions Online Roleplaying Game, have been terminated since Cryptic Studios’ owners, Atari, made some financial cutbacks.

An update on the Hero site explains that Atari was no longer willing to stump up enough cash for the project to be completed in full colour, and since a black and white version just wouldn’t be the same, they’ve decided to scrap the idea completely. However, they’ve moved another book forward, giving RPG fans something else to look forward to instead:

“Into its place we’re moving Champions Powers, the 6E version of the USPD. I’ll add to CP a section that would have gone into the CO RPG that provides pre-built versions of all of the CO powers, so gamers can easily re-create their online characters in the tabletop environment.”

There, not all bad is it?
