Out of the blue comes news that Akklaim is to ‘redevelop’ its recently launched MMORPG Chronicles of Spellborn.Released in February, Akklaim’s MMORPG Chronicles of Spellborn is to receive major changes as Akklaim moves the game over to a free to play model supported by micro-transactions. The ‘redevelopment’ is expected to continue into early next year and is being worked on by original developer Spellborn NV and Frogster Asia, based in Seoul.Akklaim has more than likely watched the subscriptions of Frogster’s Runes of Magic grow quickly and feels Chronicles of Spellborn will have a better chance of success if it were moved over to the free to play model supported by micro-transactions. Current subscribers will be moved over to the new free to play system automatically once development has been completed in 2010.
