When the game was first released five years ago, the game offered players a wide choice of character customisation, but the ability to change the colour of powers wasn’t an option developers thought of:

“You see, when City of Heroes was made over five years ago, customizing the look of your powers was never considered. When the art for the powers was done, the colors for the powers were “baked in,” in such a way that it would be impossible to tint them to a different color later. It wasn’t until we had our first feedback from outside the company that we realized the corner we had painted ourselves into.” says Matt “Positron” Miller. He went on to say that when NCsoft acquired the rights to the game, the new investment meant this addition became possible.

The new power colours will become available in Issue 16, along with other additions such as the options for new powersets to some archetypes, and an enhanced difficulty option.
