Close To The Sun Channels Tesla Horror On Steam & Gog Today (1)

Horror games have always been a popular genre, and now, another contender is coming to a much wider audience. Close to the Sun is developed by Italian studio Storm in a Teacup and published by Wired Productions. The Nikola Tesla-inspired adventure will launch today, May 5, on both Steam and GOG. It was previously an Epic Games Store exclusive.

High seas of mystery

Set in an alternative 19th Century where famed inventor and futurist Nikola Tesla was able to fulfill his potential, Close to the Sun offers horror and intrigue in one shocking package. The game is built on Unreal Engine 4 and sees players exploring the Helios, a colossal vessel built for scientific research.

“We’re excited to finally bring Storm in a Teacup’s shocking first-person adventure to Steam and GOG,” said Leo Zullo, Managing Director at Wired Productions.

Close to the Sun contains all the ingredients that aficionados of horror games crave: an original setting with beautifully-rendered environments, atmosphere by the bucket-load, a strong narrative and moments that will make you jump out of your skin.”

Taking the role of Rose, players will explore the Helios in the hopes of finding their lost sister. What has happened to Ada, and where is she? The grand halls of the ship are empty, and a stench is in the air. All you have is as a clue is a single word painted across the entrance: “quarantine”. You can expect plenty of atmospheric terror – and plenty of dead bodies. It is a horror game, after all. There are even monsters thrown in for good measure.

Close to the Sun is available on Steam with 25% savings for the first week. Players can also get the game at the GOG store for the same discounted price. A Digital Deluxe edition of the game will come with both soundtrack and a digital art book.
