Comcast entering gaming space with EA and X1

We heard rumors about this for a while now, but its looks like its finally coming to fruition. Comcast is launching a new X1 cable box, which will have the ability to stream games via the cloud.

Comcast has been working with EA to start with their games, including Madden and FIFA. Will cloud gaming work out better when the ISP itself is streaming the games? We can’t help but wondering if this service will be one of the 1st beneficiaries of FCC’s revised rules eliminating net neutrality.

The X1 is being positioned as a strong competitor in the set top market, and from the looks of things, it may give consoles a run for their money as well, at least where Comcast services are available. We’ll let you know when more details surface.
