Conan Exiles Funcom players are now region locked on the official servers. Community Manager Jens Erik explained why the region lock has been put in place.
“We have decided to East/West region lock the official servers for three reasons. The language barrier and the different playstyles is proving jarring for a lot of players. Also, the vastly different time zones between regions made offline raiding an unavoidable issue for a lot of players who would wake up to all their stuff being completely ruined.
“We will be putting up servers in Asia, South America and Russia. Hopefully we’ll be able to do this sometime next week.”
While the region lock benefits some, players outside of these regions have become increasingly frustrated with the move over the weekend.
In related news, some players are having difficulty bringing up the server list today (Saturday) and it’s also apparent that griefing and hacks have become a bit of a problem on some of the official servers. The upshot is, some players may actually have a better experience on private servers which will also get around the region lock.
