CryENGINE SDK to be released for free in August

Crytek has updated its official modding page with a lengthy message, informing prospective PC modders that the Crysis 2 Editor and CryENGINE SDK will be released soon.
The modding portal itself is set to return on 29 April, but in the meantime it has a lot to say about these two powerful tools. The Crysis 2 Editor will allow PC chaps to “build new maps, items and more custom content for Crysis 2,” and is due sometime this summer.

Interesting enough; but if you want even more impressive modding capabilities, you’ll want to hold on until August. Crytek will be releasing the CryENGINE SDK in that month, for the princely sum of nothing at all. So, for $0.00 USD anybody who fancies downloading it will be able to “access to the latest, greatest version of CryENGINE 3 – the same engine we use internally, the same engine we give to our licensees, the same engine that powers Crysis 2.”
Not too shabby at all.
To remind yourself why you might want to tinker around with Crysis 2 when these tools are released, point your face at John’s review.
