Football management games are hugely popular but will rugby be the next management sports sim to set the world alight in 2014? Cyanide, who created Pro Cycling Manager and the previous Pro Rugby Manager titles, obviously think so with the announcement of the Pro Rugby Manager 2014 Kickstarter.
To get the oval ball rolling, Cyanide has launched a funding campaign inviting rugby fans who fancy their chances at managing a professional rugby team to back the game. Cyanide are looking for £100,000 to get this new instalment funded, which could be a tall order.
The game comes with a career mode where you can manage club or national teams, three tiers of players from youth to seniors, and there’s a 2D or 3D match action view along with all the usual management feature you’d expect. There will also be Steam integration with leaderboards which could be fairly interesting.
As a huge rugby fan I would love to see this game make its goal, 2005 was the last rugby management game from Cyanide so it’s long overdue. Cyanide will need to make this as authentic as possible and its not clear which clubs/teams, if any, are going to be involved.
Cyanide say that publishers do not want to fund a rugby management game and the only way this can get made is through crowd funding. That’s reason enough for my backing. Love rugby? Back this.
