Death Stranding meets Cyberpunk 2077 in a new free update

Wake up delivery man, we've got calories to burn.

Even in a year of countless crossovers, it’s still hard to believe some of the mashups coming out. We’ve seen everything from Godzilla and Sonic the Hedgehog skins in Fall Guys to the massive Fortnite/Marvel seasonal collaboration. That’s just the tip of the iceberg, so don’t get us going or you might never get to the story that brought you here in the first place. The latest and greatest crossover to earn the attention of gamers is the inclusion of Cyberpunk 2077 content in Death Stranding. The update contains various cosmetics, exclusive missions, gameplay options, and some themed signs and construction holograms. There’s a lot to get excited about once you get past the initial shock and awe.

Perhaps this shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise, though, since Hideo Kojima appears as a character in Cyberpunk 2077 already. The seeds of collaboration were already sewn. This isn’t the first collaboration we’ve seen in Death Stranding, either. Fans should remember the recent Valve collaboration that added Half-Life content to the game. That celebrated the Steam release version of the game for PC. It seems as if anyone and everything Kojima touches wants to work with him these days.

Hit the road with a little extra flair

We didn’t get exact details on what to expect in the new Cyberpunk 2077-related missions, but Kojima did mention they will “feature lore and characters from Cyberpunk 2077.” As far as the cosmetics list, we can look forward to rocking a neon-lit Reverse Trike, Johnny Silverhands’ aviator sunglasses and bionic arm, and V’s faceplates. The gameplay features will include new hacking options to disable sensor poles and allow you to use the Odradek sensor to disable enemies and vehicles.

If you like what you see in this Cyberpunk 2077 collaboration and still need to play Death Stranding for yourself, you can pick up the game on Steam right now for $29.99 USD. Considering how well we liked it in our review, this is a great offer. The Cyberpunk 2077 update is out now and totally free.
