New Partnership Sees Delay For The Lord Of The Rings Gollum To 2022 (2)

When it comes to the most celebrated pieces of literary works of all time, characters tend to have a lot of development and are fleshed out in interesting ways. For Lord of the Rings, it is easier to gravitate towards the many heroes and villains in the classic, but for some, Gollum draws the most attention. It is understandable, considering the complex history of this hobbit turned creature. That is perhaps what Daedalic Entertainment is setting out to depict in its game, The Lord of the Rings: Gollum. The project was originally slated for a release sometime this year, but we will now have to wait a bit longer. After signing a new partnership with publisher Nacon, Daedelic announced a delay to 2022 for The Lord of the Rings: Gollum.

The press release stated that the two joined forces to ensure fan expectations would be met for the game. Daedelic also wishes to fully leverage the power of the new consoles to deliver a great experience. Needless to say, that will also apply to the PC version of the game. In addition to those reasons, the extra time will allow the development team to add even more polish to The Lord of the Rings: Gollum.

Dual perspective

With its focus on a narrative-driven experience, players will take on the role of Gollum. You will navigate dangerous lands throughout the adventure in search of the only thing that is precious to him. Can you take a guess at what that is? And while adventure will be present, the most intriguing aspect of the game will be the internal conflict within Gollum.

We know that Sméagol exists somewhere within the psyche of Gollum, and it is this constant struggle that powers this aspect of the game.

As you progress, you will need to make different choices. This will in turn affect the development of the titular character. Do you give in to the dark side and push Gollum to the edge, or will you choose reason and give Sméagol a chance to reemerge? The choice is truly yours. If the delay for The Lord of the Rings: Gollum can give us a truly well-designed system for this, it will certainly make for a memorable experience.
