Crown of Sorrow: Cheese Mode

Here are some cheese strats for Crown of Sorrow’s encounters. It’s not really a Destiny 2 raid if there’s no cheese, eh? Do note that these are for the DPS phases of these encounters which means you still need to learn the mechanics to get to that point.

Gahlran’s Deception/Phase 1

Requirements:

The player with the Anarchy exotic has to have the blessing when the DPS phase starts. Fire off a shot so that it sticks to Gahlran’s Deception and make sure to stay away from it. The other five players should move in to melee to break its shield, and get their blessings removed as soon as possible. You’ll have five players consistently DPSing the boss from the onset. The player with Anarchy simply shoots again when the Deception has its shield up.

The Anarchy grenade counts as a melee. This allows one blessed player to continuously break the Deception’s shield as long as another (non-blessed) teammate is there to melee. Since you’ll have six or seven “mini DPS phases,” you should be able to kill the Deception in one round. Don’t forget to have one teammate use Tractor Cannon — aka. Destiny 2’s boss “debuffer” — to increase damage.

Gahlran Phase 2 Cheese

Gahlran Boss/Phase 2

Requirements:

  • At least two Warlocks with Well of Radiance plus Lunafaction Boots.
  • One player with Tractor Cannon.

As you can see in the image above, you need to DPS Gahlran while standing under his ball sack. Yep, you read that correctly. Have one Well of Radiance down, with the next one to follow if it runs out.

One player with Tractor Cannon will shoot Gahlran’s kneecap every few seconds to increase damage. The rest of the team will still need to shoot his hands if he raises them. However, rather than shooting his face, you’ll shoot his belly instead.

Shooting Gahlran’s belly instead of his face slightly lengthens your DPS time, allowing you to pour more damage. This should allow you to kill the boss in one phase. Don’t forget to use hard-hitting weapons such as The Mountaintop, Prospector, Swarm of the Raven, Ikelos, and the like.

Hopefully, this guide will help you get your first Crown of Sorrow raid clear. Every boss fight and encounter is truly unique and challenging, and, you’ll be down to learn and master it with some practice.
