Destiny 2 The Dawning 2021 event guide – Starting out and meeting Eva Levante
The first order of business is to meet up with Eva Levante in the Tower. This leads to a couple of notable quests once she gives you the Holiday Oven.
Here are the steps:
- Bake a gift for Commander Zavala. The recipe requires 1x Ether Cane, 1x Delicious Explosion, and 15x Essence of Dawning. These are automatically provided.
- Bring the Gjallardoodles to Zavala.
- Return to Eva. She’ll hand you 40x Dawning Spirit, the event currency.
- You can then purchase the Merrymaker upgrade from her wares. You’ll receive a Boon of Friendship each daily reset from Eva.
- Upon completion, you’ll receive two quests – The Pigeon Provides and Rite of Dawning.
Eva’s bounties
Weekly bounties:
- The Spirit of Giving – Deliver 5x gifts.
- Snowball Fight – Defeat 50x enemies with snowballs. Snowballs can be found near public events, in Europa’s lost sectors, and the strike that corresponds to the weekly Nightfall.
- Weekly bounties reward XP, Bright Dust, 30x Essence of Dawning, and 10x Dawning Spirit.
Daily bounties:
- Hive Handler – Defeat 50x Hive; receive Chitin Powder.
- Scorn Slayer – Defeat 50x Scorn; receive Dark Ether Cane.
- Take ‘Em Out – Defeat 50x Taken; receive Taken Butter.
- Dawning Spark – Defeat enemies with Arc damage; receive Electric Flavor.
- Apart from ingredients, daily bounties also reward XP and 2x Dawning Spirit.
Dawning Spirit and upgrades
You can earn Dawning Spirit in Destiny 2 by completing bounties, claiming achievements, activating Boons of Friendship, and delivering cookies. These are required to unlock account-wide upgrades from Eva. The reward boosts require 40x Dawning Spirit each. Meanwhile, the Snowball upgrades require 20x Dawning Spirit each, but they need to be unlocked in order.
- Merrymaker – You’ll receive a Boon of Friendship each daily reset from Eva. This is automatically obtained during the early stages of the event.
- The Boon of Friendship is a consumable that can grant additional Dawning rewards for your fireteam when it’s used during an activity.
- Bountiful Harvest – Dawning bounties reward an additional ingredient.
- Essential Harvest – Dawning bounties grant a small amount of Dawning Essence.
- Perky Presents – Dawning weapons have a chance to drop with an additional perk in the left column.
- Perkier Presents (requires Perky Presents) – Dawning weapons have a chance to drop with an additional perk in the right column.
- Long Winter – Increases the duration of slowing effects applied by snowballs.
- Longer Winter – Further increases the slowing effects.
- Longest Winter – Snowballs instantly freeze enemies.
- Stay Frosty – Snowballs leave a Stasis mine on impact.
- Gift That Keeps On Giving – Shattering frozen enemies causes them to drop snowballs.
Gift Exchanges: Weapons and Rides
Finally, Eva has various rewards and gift packages that you can acquire:
- Unity Gift Exchange (requires Rite of Dawning completion) – Receive either the Glacioclasm fusion rifle or Avalanche machine gun; costs 5x Dawning Spirit and 1x A Gift In Return.
- Edgy Gift Exchange (requires The Pigeon Provides completion) – Receive either the Zephyr sword or Cold Front submachine gun.
- Zephyr sword (requires The Pigeon Provides completion) – Unlocks the Zephyr sword as a possible reward for A Gift In Return packages.
- Vapoorwill Spin (requires Rite of Dawning and The Pigeon Provides completion) – Grants you the Dawning 2021’s exotic ship.
