Hammer of Proving unlockable perks

As for the Having of Proving’s enhancements and unlockable perks, you can only obtain the first one after reaching War Table reputation rank 2.

This is primarily done by completing weekly challenges that provide War Table rep. Here are some examples this week:

  • Contender’s Ascent – Complete the “Challenger’s Proving” opening quest; kill 75x Cabal with rocket launchers.
  • Golden Reaper – Amass 100x Cabal Gold from strikes, Crucible, Gambit, public events, and other activities.
  • Crash and Converge – Smash 5x Tribute Chests and focus Season of the Chosen engrams using the hammer’s charges.

Now, when you open the Hammer of Proving’s panel via the War Table, you’ll see that one of the perks can be unlocked (“Tribute Chest I”). Anyway, let’s discuss the enhancements/perks that can be seen on the panel.

Note: It seems as though other perks are time-gated (since you’d need War Table rep), so we’ll continue to update this guide later on.

Week 2 update: With some additional weekly challenges that grant War Table reputation, it’s now possible to obtain a maximum of six Hammer of Proving perks. Here are a couple of perks I obtained this week:

Challenger Medallion I – With certain upgrades, my Hammer of Proving is able to hold up to five charges at any given time. With this perk, I can socket a “Pierced Challenger Medallion” (costs 20 Cabal Gold). Upon destroying a Tribute Chest in a Battleground, the Hammer of Proving gains +2 extra charge slots. This is particularly helpful if you want to prioritize farming Battlegrounds to get a lot of charges first before you start focusing Umbral Engrams. You’ll lose the extra charge slots once you focus an Umbral Engram anyway.

Proving Rune I – The tooltip says that you unlock a Proving Rune slot that gives you a chance to earn a random Umbral Engram. Oddly enough, the in-game description says you’ll acquire glimmer instead.
