Destiny 2: Season of the Chosen – How to start and complete the Proving Grounds strike

You can actually start the Proving Grounds strike by opening Nessus’ map via the director. Scroll to the top of the map to start matchmaking for the activity.

Note 1: The Proving Grounds strike is also part of the “Challenger’s Proving VII” quest. If you weren’t able to do the previous quest stages, you can just do a quick run by accessing it via the director.

Note 2: If you don’t own the season pass, then the Proving Grounds strike will become available on March 30.

Anyway, once you load in, you’ll find yourself on the hill leading to the Battleground: Behemoth boss fight. Clear out the Cabal and, upon reaching the land tank, you’ll battle a Colossus. Eliminate it and head inside.

The next area is called the vehicle bay and this can be a doozy. Cabal reinforcements will swarm the room, including Psion snipers and Interceptors. After clearing the waves, a couple of Goliath tanks will also appear. Destroy them both to reach the next room.

The next part has you carrying a glowing orb/ball and bringing it to a terminal. The first one is right at the start of this section, and the other is all the way towards the back area. Cabal hostiles will be spawning, too.

Finish this task so you can reach the boss fight arena (which, to be fair, looks amazing). You’ll face off against a boss called Ignovun, Chosen of Caiatl.

The boss has a couple of noteworthy abilities:

  • Homing Fireballs – These are cast at the beginning of the fight and when the boss is shielded.
  • Force Field – As you take out chunks of its health, Ignovun will create a force field. Like the ones made by Battleground bosses, you’ll need to destroy the device to break the shield. Homing fireballs will also pop up while the boss is inside the force field.

After eliminating Ignovun in Destiny 2: Season of the Chosen‘s Proving Grounds strike, don’t go back to orbit just yet. Assuming you’re doing this strike as part of the “Challenger’s Proving VII” quest, there’s a cutscene that’ll play afterward. I won’t spoil it for you, but it does present a rather tense standoff.

In any case, don’t forget to check week 7’s seasonal challenges. Several Proving Ground runs are required for a particular objective.
