Bungie announced the return of the Destiny 2 Solstice of Heroes 2020 event today with a blog post and trailer that previewed the upcoming content. The event will include the European Aerial Zone again, powerful new armors, and exclusive Eververse items for purchase. Mark your calendars, because the event runs from August 11 through September 8, which is exactly four weeks to play.

Shiny and glowy

The trailer is pretty run-of-the-mill, but Bungie fortunately included a lot more information in the blog. Solstice of Heroes 2020 marks the return of Eva Lavante to the tower, who will act as the event vendor. Just like in years past, players will be able to acquire Rare level gear that can be upgraded by completing challenges. Those who put in the grind time will be able to attain Majestic Legendary quality sets. It won’t be easy though to fully level the armor. Here’s a look at what you will have to do:

  • Accomplish a Nightfall Ordeal on the Master difficulty
  • Finish a Nightmare Hunt
  • Complete Pit of Heresy
  • Win seven Trials of Osiris matches (Not on a single Passage)
  • Complete a Tier 5 Altar of Sorrow three times

Bungie stated that completion of these objectives will unlock a white glow on the event armors. A fun perk about this glow is that it can be further customized with elemental energies. Bungie noted that once the Stasis subclass unlocks in Beyond Light, it too will be available. Additionally, you will need to upgrade the armor to Majestic quality before the event ends if you’re interested in using that level of gear.

Players will also want to keep in mind that they can find randomly-rolled pieces of the armor in the European Aerial Zone. The famed floating islands return once again with unique opportunities to hunt bosses and earn loot. The area is great breath of fresh air for adventurers too, so stop… fly on by. The European Aerial Zone is back and full of Hive, Cabal, and Fallen enemies for you to dispatch.

Pay to display

If you have less time, but more money, the exclusive Eververse items may appeal to you. Bungie teased a preview of the store offerings, which include everything we’ve come to expect by now. There are emotes, ghosts, a finisher, and vehicles to choose from. The artists clearly spared no expense on the Sparrows and ship, and the ghosts look particularly eccentric. Fortunately, everything except for the finisher will be available for purchase with Bright Dust at some point during the event.

The Destiny 2 Solstice of Heroes 2020 event no doubt feels like a placeholder leading up to Beyond Light expansion, but it’s something to do. You can check out even more info on the event here, if you intend to get that fancy armor.
