Destiny 2 Beyond Light Stasis Subclass Bug Cheese Instant Kill Feat

The release of Destiny 2: Beyond Light introduced the new Stasis subclass. Guardians now use a form of the Darkness against minions of the Darkness. Still, it looks like the Stasis subclass itself might have a lot in store. Players have been using it to cheese and instantly kill even raid bosses.

Granted, it’s not Destiny if you can’t find a worthwhile cheese. But, seeing a subclass’ supers and mechanics annihilate bosses with ease is surely a treat.

Destiny 2: Beyond Light – Cheesing and insta-killing bosses with Stasis

As far as we know, the original report comes from Reddit user Arixama. The player noticed how a team of Stasis-wielding Guardians (five Warlock Shadebringers and one Hunter Revenant) quickly eliminated Kalli and Morgeth, two bosses from the Last Wish raid.

A few hours later, there were several tweets from Destiny 2: Beyond Light streamer Gladd. The player shared a glorious victory over Kalli. Others were even surprised when the boss teleported from their sights. Then, only the chest appeared which meant she’s already dead.

From there, Gladd tweeted additional videos of a Morgeth kill as well as a Riven kill. The common denominator here was Stasis’ freeze-and-shatter mechanic. Although players have noted that a majority of folks seem to be using the Warlock’s Shadebinder subclass, it looks like the bug can also be replicated via other means (i.e., other classes, Stasis grenades, and the Salvation’s Grip exotic grenade launcher).

Personally, these incidents surprised me. As cited in our official review, I happen to like how Stasis is used in PvE (although it feels broken in PvP). Still, I didn’t think it’d be viable for high-end content like raids. Now, I’m seeing people annihilating bosses with ease. You probably think that this can only be done against foes in older raids. However, even Gambit’s “meatball” Primeval got a taste of the freezing cold.

Disabled? Nerfed? Fixed?

Make no mistake, this is still a glitch/bug and is likely not how the subclass should work especially in Destiny 2: Beyond Light‘s multiplayer PvE content. I guess it might be related to the Witherhoard bug from Season of Arrivals. With players unloading so much damage on raid bosses, that damage spikes and leads to a glitched kill.

Now that the issue is public knowledge, it remains to be seen if Bungie disables Stasis subclasses (and the Salvation’s Grip) for the upcoming Deep Stone Crypt raid which releases on November 21. I surmise that’s a possibility knowing that there’s a contest for “world’s first” raid clears. A cheese or exploit would make that event moot. For now, if you are roaming around in Destiny 2: Beyond Light, make sure you obtain the Stasis subclass and all its perks via the Born in Darkness questline.
