Deus Ex: Mankind Divided Release Date, Collector’s Edition, And Pre Order Bonuses Detailed

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided received its fair share of news today. Eidos-MontrĂ©al has revealed a release date, the Collector’s Edition of the game, and their pre-order system all in one post on Steam. Most importantly for many, they announced that the game would be launching on February 23rd, 2016.

Before I discuss what comes with the Collector’s Edition, it’s important to cover the pre-order system that they’re using for the newest entry in the Deus Ex series. They’re using what they call “Augment Your Pre-order“. Depending on how many people pre-order the game globally, further bonuses are unlocked that you get to pick from to build your pre-order.

With the launch of the campaign, tier 1 is automatically unlocked which includes various packs that you can choose from to give yourself a boost in Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. The rewards continue to get bigger and better until the final tier, tier 5, where the game release date is pushed up four days to February 19th, 2016. You can see all the details in the video below:

The comments on the video show an incredibly negative response to the campaign currently, although it’s worth noting that this type of campaign is not new, with Tales of Zestiria on Steam following a similar pre-order model currently with substantially less criticism. Despite that, even the Steam news announcement is filled with comments voicing hatred for this system, with some people flat out saying they will never buy another Square Enix game again.

It’s up to you how you feel about this pre-order system. As the consumer though, remember that you vote with your wallet.

That said, the Deus Ex: Mankind Divided Collector’s Edition was also revealed.

This includes all of the Augment Your Pre-order bonuses except for the release date change. The Collector’s Edition also includes a 48 page art book, a 9″ Adam Jensen figure, a limited edition steelbook, and the day one edition of the game, all of which will come in an exclusive packaging.

Unless enough pre-orders roll in, you will be able to play through the newest Deus Ex adventure on February 23rd, 2016.
