Devil May Cry HD Collection announced for PC

Devil May Cry HD Collection announced for PC

A new Devil May Cry HD Collection (different from the 2012 one) has been announced by Capcom today. It’ll bundle all of the first three games, and give them PC versions in “silky smooth 60fps”.

They’ve all been on PC one way of the other before now, but hopefully this HD Collection will give them a Dragon’s Dogma style porting makeover. There isn’t much detail about port specifics in the announcement blurb (besides that 60fps thing, which may primarily be intended for the PS4/Xbox One audience). The old Devil May Cry HD Collection from 2012 (on 360/PS3) still had remnants like menus in 4:3 aspect ratio, so there’s plenty to still be improved.

The Collection will be released on 13 March 2018 and includes Devil May Cry, Devil May Cry 2, and Devil May Cry 3: Special Edition. It will cost $30 USD.

This announcement will be further fuel on the rumour-fire surrounding an imminent reveal of Devil May Cry 5; possibly at tonight’s Game Awards, or perhaps at the weekend PSX event.

“They’ve all been on PC one way of the other before now, but hopefully this HD Collection will give them a Dragon’s Dogma style porting makeover.” Actually Devil May Cry 1 and Devil May Cry 2 have NEVER been on PC, and have in fact been PlayStation 2 Exclusives for around a decade, until the 2012 HD Collection.

“There isn’t much detail about port specifics in the announcement blurb
(besides that 60fps thing, which may primarily be intended for the
PS4/Xbox One audience).” Meanwhile in reality all classic Devil May Cry games have always ran at 60 fps on PS2 and other consoles, much like the vast majority of spectacle fighters and classic japanese games in general.

Glad to see these classics being updated and made available to a wider audience, unwashed masses, etc. Especially lovely, that soon even close minded PC elitists, will get a chance to play them. (Outside of illegal practices like piracy and emulation.)

And of course always a pleasure to educate you, PC Invasion staff. Cheers.

When they said “one way or another,” they were probably referring to emulation, which has been easily achievable for years now.

Bingo. Re; 60fps, I’m hoping the PC versions will run above 60.
