Diablo 3 Sword of Wisdom – Next expansion? [Updated]

A couple of leaked images are suggesting a Diablo 3 expansion reveal at BlizzCon in November.

Two digital images sent over to AllGamesBeta via justleak.it show what appears to be some kind of reveal, possibly for an expansion called Diablo 3 Sword of Wisdom. There’s no way to verify if these are actually real but they could be part of a teaser that would be used by Blizzard at Gamescom next week to get the hype train rolling.  The title Sword of Wisdom does sound a little weak for an expansion name and we can’t find any trademark filing so it could be fake.

Blizzard did recently poll the community over a possible expansion and it’s common knowledge that they plan multiple expansions as indicated on the product slate that was leaked a while back (see below). If the images are real then there is always the possibility it’s for some other product tie-in such as book.

Is this the name of a new Diablo 3 expansion? I guess we’ll find out soon enough, either next week or in November. For now we’ll file in the rumour bin.

Discussion on their legitimacy is now on-going over on Diablo: IncGamers and thanks FoxMulder over on the community forums for the tip.

Since posting this earlier this evening, Blizzard has rather unusually responded with…

It’s plausible that some sort of announcement would come at this year’s Blizzcon in November and if that is the case then reasonable to assume they’d tease that at Gamescom 3 months earlier.

      7. November (rather than 7th) is how you write dates in German. And possibly other languages, I don’t know.

It’s pretty weird to see it on an image that’s otherwise in English, referencing an event in California. Also, Blizzard don’t usually do pre-announcements.
