Diablo 3’s Jay Wilson removes Twitter account [Updated]

Jay WilsonBlizzard’s Diablo 3 Game Director Jay Wilson, who occasionally posted Diablo 3 updates on his personal Twitter account, has now removed himself from Twitter.

Posting under the name of @angryrobotics, Wilson would from time to time post status updates for Diablo 3, most recently regarding the game’s PvP.

Wilson has had a tough year since the launch of Diablo 3 for numerous reasons and the Diablo 3 community hasn’t exactly been kind when he’s made the effort to post on the social networking site.

Game fixes and PvP have taken a lot longer than many had expected, and coupled with the fact that some of the community were dissapointed with the game, Wilson’s responses to the David Brevik interview on Facebook back in August, he’s come under personal abuse through Twitter.

Blizzard CM Lylirra recently posted in a forum thread in reposnse to the lack of game updates and Wilson’s recent PvP responses.

We do want to update players on PvP once all the details are finalized. We’re not at that point yet, but Jay understands that it sucks to wait and has been trying to bridge that gap via direct updates on Twitter. He’s a good dude and really cares this community, despite so many statements to the contrary. =/”

Despite this update, it appears that Wilson has decided to remove huimself from Twitter, which is probably right move to avoid any further personal abuse. His Twitter account was a personal account and not an official Blizzard account so he was quite rightly entitled to post what he wished.

Sadly this is why the Diablo 3 community can’t have nice things, the personal abuse was uncalled for.

Update 02:00 AM GMT: Jay Wilson has returned to Twitter out of the blue after being offline for more than 48 hours. His account is back and he Tweeted:

Hey guys! I’m back. Sorry for any confusion

The holidays will be pretty busy, so I might not tweet much.

Jay vanishing was rather unusual and we hope he keeps that line of communication open with the Diablo 3 community.
