It seems like only a week ago that I was writing about Dota 2 7.03! Oh. That’s because it was. Well, here’s 7.04.

I’m no longer quite sure what constitutes a major patch versus a minor one, because I’d have thought this might’ve been 7.03b or something, but hey. To my eyes, Dota 2 7.04 is mostly a wave of nerfs, with a couple of attempts to make some of the weaker heroes a bit more relevant.

Item-wise: Hurricane Pike and Silver Edge recipes now cost more, Sange and Yasha has a better proc chance, and both Ghost Scepter and Heaven’s Halberd have lower cooldowns. More interestingly, Slippers of Agility can no longer be bought from the side shop, which means picking up a Poor Man’s Shield is going to be slightly more troublesome.

As for heroes, we’ve got nerfs to Centaur, Monkey King, Magnus, Abaddon, Lifestealer, and Keeper of the Light. In exchange, though, buffs have been delivered to Brewmaster, Nature’s Prophet, Razor, Death Prophet, Queen of Pain, Phoenix, Kunkka, Lycan, Arc Warden, Ancient Apparition, Broodmother (please stop), Bristleback, Puck, and Lich. Oh, and also Lone Druid, but that’s an increase to a Spirit Bear damage talent so nobody cares. These buffs tend to be minor tweaks, but they might be enough to push some of those heroes into being more viable picks.

The full changelog is small enough that I’ve posted it up below. Dota 2 7.04 is live now.

Tim has been playing PC games for longer than he's willing to admit. He's written for a number of publications, but has been with PC Invasion - in all its various incarnations - for over a decade. When not writing about games, Tim can occasionally be found speedrunning terrible ones, making people angry in Dota 2, or playing something obscure and random. He's also weirdly proud of his status as (probably) the Isle of Man's only professional games journalist.
