Techland has revealed the pending release of a tie-in book to Dying Light. Dying Light: Nightmare Row will narrate the events prior to the game, when the outbreak strikes.

The novel is focused on Mel Wyatt, an 18 year old athlete slated to participate in the Harran 2015 Global Athletic Games when the outbreak strikes. Mel’s parents have already died from the disease, and she is left fending for herself and her brother.

Here’s what author Raymond Benson has to say about getting to write the book:

Writing the origin story for DYING LIGHT was an exciting adventure for me,. I’d always wanted to try my hand at a zombie-genre tale and this gave me the perfect opportunity. The folks at Techland created a rich and intriguingly bleak setting for the game, so that gave me a wonderful and creepy world in which to play around. All fans of zombie fiction, gamers and readers alike, are in for a real treat.

Techland will reveal the release date and price for the book in the near future.
