Elden Ring update 1.04.1 fixes Malenia’s lifesteal attacks in co-op

Malenia can't cheat anymore.

Elden Ring‘s 1.04.1 update addresses problems that were brought to the game in the last patch, such as a major bug that affected Malenia, Blade of Miquella’s fight during co-op. It also addresses a handful of smaller issues caused by the previous patch.

Update 1.04 brought a lot of changes to Elden Ring. Some of the biggest included buffs to both magic and colossal weapons, as well as more event phases for Patches’ questline. The update made certain builds far more viable and fun to play. However, it also brought along with it some problems that had unfortunate effects.

FromSoftware made Malenia even harder

It’s fair to say that Malenia, Blade of Miquella is perhaps one of the hardest fights in Elden Ring. With her ability to regain health on each successful attack, she can prove to be a challenge for the most hardcore Souls elites. So there’s no shame in summoning a friend for some much-needed backup. The problem is that, for a short period of time, this actually made the fight harder.

The glitch was encountered by Klein Tsuboi on YouTube (AKA ‘Let Me Solo Her’). During one of their attempts, they noticed that Malenia’s health was recovering after she performed some attacks. However, none of these attacks had actually landed on the player successfully. Which should’ve meant that she didn’t heal, but for some reason she would recover health regardless. This obviously made the fight much harder, since she was healing when she wasn’t supposed to. What’s even weirder is that this only occurred during a co-op session.

Luckily this is no longer a problem, as update 1.04.1 fixes Elden Ring‘s toughest boss. Beyond that, the patch is fairly small and only deals with minor issues. A problem that affected the duration of the Cerulean Hidden Tear has been fixed. And an issue that caused some bosses to suddenly die out of nowhere has been resolved, too.
