The secret ending or the best ending
This ending still requires you to defeat the Blighted Lord, but there’s an important caveat. You’ll need to open all the locked doors, collect all the Stone Tablets, and craft the Aegis Curio. You can refer to our secrets guide (doors/stone tablets) for more information.
Anyway, go ahead and fight the Blighted Lord normally. Once you’ve depleted its health bar, you can attempt to purify it while the Aegis Curio relic is equipped. Instead of getting the ending where the White Priestess takes Lily, the Blighted Lord will transcend into its final form. This enhanced version of the Blighted Lord has several deadly attacks. You can take a look at our guide on The Deep/final boss (phase 2) if you need some tips.
Once you’ve taken out Blighted Lord version 2.0, Lily will be able to purify its corpse.
A cinematic will then play, showing you the White Priestess of the Fount on her deathbed surrounded by the other kiddie clones just like Lily. You’re told that they were being sacrificed just to keep her alive. The White Priestess will then appear and she’ll congratulate Lily. She’s even surprised that you’ve managed to obtain all pieces of the Aegis Curio amulet.
Another scene will play out, showing you the kingdom of Land’s End with the Blight finally cleansed. The White Priestess also promises to continue watching over Lily.
What about the Lost Heirloom?
There’s one more oddity that I discovered and that’s the Lost Heirloom relic. It only appeared near the Blighted Heart respite after I obtained the secret ending. From what I can tell, it seems that Lily shows up as a red/Blighted character once you load the game. Then, upon equipping the Lost Heirloom, she reverts back into a more purified form (i.e., her clothes are clean).
I’ve tried the following with the Lost Heirloom equipped, but these didn’t yield new results:
- Defeating the exalted version of the Blighted Lord – This still leads to the secret/best ending.
- Purifying the flower in Land’s End – This still leads to the Hinterlands ending.
