Ulv, the Mad Knight boss fight
Let’s discuss the Ulv, the Mad Knight boss fight in Ender Lilies: Quietus of the Knights‘ Twin Spires level.
Ulv is one hectic encounter. This is primarily due to his erratic attacks. Above 50% HP, Ulv can do the following:
- Quick Swipe – You can parry these hits.
- Cross Slash – When Ulv backs away, he might move his arms sideways, signaling the use of this move. This can also be blocked/parried, but you need to time it perfectly.
- Ground Smash – Alternatively, Ulv will back away and suddenly dive toward Lily.
- Ground Slash – This one is different since he’ll send a fiery projectile that travels along the ground.
He gets even deadlier once he’s below 50% HP. He’ll become faster, stronger, and the Ground Slash turns into multiple fiery pillars.
These can deal over 200 points of damage, likely killing Lily if she’s already low on health. At best, you’ll want to quickly move so you’re between these pillars.
For skills, I still used Gerrod as my means of dealing melee DPS, but ranged spells (Dark Witch Eleine) and summons (Western Merchant/Castle Town Maiden) are very helpful too.
Once I had a full SP Gauge, I simply used Knight Julius’ Last Rites (which is one of the best ultimate abilities in the game).
After defeating the boss, you’ll receive the following:
- Ulv, the Mad Knight – Think of this skill as akin to Wolverine doing several Berserker Barrage slashes.
- Bloody Knight’s Claws – This is the wall climb ability. Simply move toward a wall and Lily will automatically latch onto it. This only works on flat surfaces, though, so you’ll still slide off from diagonal or sloping structures.
