Considering that Street Fighter 6 has become one of, if not the most anticipated fighting game of the year, fans of the genre will no doubt look forward to seeing it in such a big tournament setting. Street Fighter 6 will see an official release two months prior on June 2.

This year’s tournament will have a total of eight fighting games, including Street Fighter 6Guilty Gear Strive will return for the second year in a row, and the same will hold true for The King of Fighters XV. Additionally, with Tekken 8 slated for next year, Tekken will once again show up for its, appropriately enough, seventh appearance. The rest of the lineup includes Mortal Kombat 11: UltimateDragon Ball FighterZMelty Blood: Type Lumina, and, surprisingly, Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3. It seems that even over a decade after its release, Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 remains an incredibly popular competitive fighting game.

How’s that for incentive?

Those competing at EVO will undoubtedly become interested to hear that all of its tournaments will come with a minimum $25,000 USD prize pool. According to the official EVO website, this marks the first time that this has happened. This should give competitors all the more incentive to show up and demonstrate their skills at their respective tournaments.

This combined with the appearance of Street Fighter 6 and other noteworthy games will undoubtedly make EVO 2023 quite exciting for fighting game fans. In addition to all of this, fans will definitely want to see what kinds of major fighting game announcements companies will make at the event.
