Evolve no longer on sale on Steam ahead of announcement

Evolve

Earlier today the Evolve website posted a countdown for some sort of announcement, and this evening the gameĀ cannot be purchased on Steam. The Steam page still exists however.

While we don’t know what the announcement is, earlier we speculated that it could be a reveal of a free to play version.

Why go free to play? The game has simply lost most of its players with peak level now reaching the mighty heights of 150. Not 150k, quite literally 150 players.

They have nothing to lose now by moving the game to a free to play model, they are hardly going to upset a huge community of gamers. If it does indeed go free to play it will be interesting to see if numbers start to increase or it will be a lost cause.

This has also appeared this evening.
