Fallout 76 beta on Xbox first and not playable via Steam

In an FAQ released for the Fallout 76 beta test, Bethesda has stated that the Xbox One community will get their hands on the beta first. It’s also not appearing on Steam.

The Fallout 76  beta access will be granted with a pre-order and PC gamers will purchase it through Bethesda.Net. The beta test will also begin on the Xbox One and some unspecified time after will come to the PC and other platforms. Hopefully, it won’t be some ridiculous amount of time like a month or more.

It’s disappointing that PC gamers will have to wait but there is obviously some exclusive timed deal in play. The fact that Steam won’t be an option may put some PC gamers off but if they really want it then it’s the Bethesda launcher or nothing,

Then I guess it’ll be nothing lol. This a product, and with this launch i almost feel that they forgot that they depend off of us as a consumer to pay for this and if they want to be arrogant then they won’t get a dime from me.

      • Fundamentalist Daleks

        speaking of arrogant!

      • Aleo Aninda

Bethesda is trying to do an EA on us by making it Bethesda Launcher exclusive

        • Evan Lazer

good it will be the only launcher worth having imo steam sells nothing but mostly crapware anymore

          • Davy Aryel

Steam is a market (not a game blog), and everyone who develops games is allowed to sell their stuff there. It is a great way to democratize game develooment. So, in a way, one can think there are only crap there, but we have a lot more options now that are willingly to go beyond what the mainstream AAA will permit.

            • Evan Lazer

ever since they started green light the quality of games there plummeted the sheer number of mobile ports shows this

        • Skyrim4Ever

No. They’re pulling a Rockstar by abandoning the Single Player and PC platform (which made their TES/Skyrim and Fallout 3/4 & NV titles the household names they are today). Because of MODS.

They’ll pull an Exceptional Asshole when they make Creation Club the ONLY official source for mods starting with Fallout 76—then extend both the online and CC requirements to TES VI some 6-8 years from now.

          • Evan Lazer

fallout was already a house hold name when they bought the rights lol mods did nothing to further that name but only keep people playing a little longer than they would have mods aren’t the best thing to ever happen to pc gaming but they aren’t bad once in awhile to push the life of your game just a little more

            • Mischievous Emperor

Mods are the greatest thing to happen to pc gaming you nitwit. Besides adding longevity to a game they add content, fixes, and new worlds to explore without costing you anything. I guess you like buying lousy paid dlc that adds nothing to the game, but costs $10 or more.

              • Evan Lazer

you realize we are talking about fallout yes? the single best game to deliver amazing dlc you nitwit

              • Mischievous Emperor

LOL single best? Not even close. Community made mods were better than any of the dlc releases thus far.

              • Skyrim4Ever

Dear Little Millennial Pimple (aka Mischievous Emperor),

I’m one of those PC gamers who can code in C++/Java etc. and so have the skill set to code and design my own mods. So I won’t play anything but a heavily modded version of a PC title once modding becomes possible. It’s been that way ever since I played my first TES & Fallout games in the mid 1990s, These remain the top 2 franchises I still play as single player to date. Because the Exceptional Assholes (and recently C* with their FUBAR of the GTA V Single Player franchise) have narrowed the Single Player RPG/Action games to less than THREE reputable software devs. RDR2 and The Sims/Sim City franchises are RIP thanks to these 2 AAA devs. Who managed to ruin two of the best single player franchises in the industry.

                TL;DR
I definitely don’t need your advice or input about PC gaming let alone mods. I’ve been a PC gamer before the Exceptional Assholes assimilated and cannibalized the Ultima franchise (created by Richard Garriott/Lord British).before it became Ultima Online. My first serious gaming PC was an 8088. I learned to type on a real typewriter. So I don’t suffer from the literacy grammar, punctuation and spelling problems so pandemic of your generation. I was basically gaming long before you were a tadpole tinkle in your Daddy’s nut sack.

                Cheers,
                Amused Gen Xer

Just the ramblings of someone who hasn’t taken their bipolar medication replying to me.
Only two languages? it’s 2018 I can code in 6 languages, and I am lazy.. we also have these easy point, and click gui languages kids can use to program games. Please refrain from feeling special because you can code something a lot of people can do. Modding of GTAV existed but not at the hardcoded levels of being able to create complete conversions. Your ramblings of what a company decided to do with their IP to make more money to stay alive to make more content is your own issue. I am not fan of EA either, but it’s worked for them to last this long.

You don’t need my advice it’s true, but I don’t need your inane ramblings either. No one does.
Hey it’s great you’ve been a PC gamer longer then most, but what do you have to show for it exactly? Just a lot of rage that their favorite pixel game was cannibalized by a larger company because they couldn’t manage their company to continue making games without a publisher.

Grammar really? You do know some of us speak more than 1 language right? I speak 3 (used to be 5) So no my grammar isn’t perfect nor do I care for it to be too perfect.

If you ever decide to lurk from beneath that rock you keyboard warrior from make sure you don’t get hit by one of those millennial’s driving their parents van.

              • Skyrim4Ever

You DO of course, understand the long term implications of what a pervasive online connection (like Fallout 76) means for future development of TES 6?. Or why BGS went to the trouble of adding the CC feature (aka future micro transaction cash grab)? These 2 abnormal game featres they added to an 18 year SINGLE PLAYER TITLE has NOTHING to do with their PR spin of “bringing mods to the console massess”. And has EVERYTHING to do with BGS taking the first steps to make millions in pay wall profit. By controlling the source of mods (through an official platform like Bethesda.net) in the PC modding community.

So try to absorb this if nothing else: ONLINE GAMES TYPICALLY RESTRICT MODDING TO THE MOST BASIC FEATURES (IF ALLOWED AT ALL). If SP FO5 and TES6 end up getting an online CoOp feature, THIS WILL AFFECT WHAT MODS YOU CAN PUT IN YOUR GAME.

So DON’T PLAN ON ADDING ADULT//SEX MODS LIKE CBBE, OSEX, ANIMATED PROSTITUTION, SCHLONGS OF SKYRIM, OR PRIVATE NEEDS TO OUR LOAD ORDER. Don’t plan on getting a SUPERIOR survival game mechanic the likes of Chesko’s Frostfall/Campfire (for Skyrim) or Conquest mod (the FO4 equivalent). Fading Sginal is the only PC modder to date who came close to matching the level of coding complexity Chesko achieved with Frostfall/Campfire. But to date, his Backpack/Camping survival mods are extremely primitive in comparison (they need to be simple because XB1X and PS4 console hardware is inferior to PC). So DON’T PLAN ON RELYING ON CC FOR ANY DECENT DLC IF THE FO4 CC IS ANY INDICATOR..

Basically, if F76 is the online success that games like GTAO, Ark, DOTA and COD were at their gaming peak, then you can kiss any form of SP only in TES6 goodbye. And when that happens, KISS SITES LIKE THE NEXUS GOODBYE. BGS WILL HAVE EITHER RESTRICT MOD CONTENT TO CC OR BANNED THEIR USE FOR ANY ONLINE GAMES. Same for FO5–assuming they see the need to make FO5 6-8 years from now. It’s far easier to make millions off a console designed, PvP style game with little PvE/Quest content. BGS will sit back and count their millions a year. For very little effort, as they will be relying on us players to keep themselves entertained via PvP. Just like in COD/GTAO. Push out infrequent CC DLC. Just llike C* does in GTAO.

              • Mischievous Emperor

This isn’t something new.. we already have ESO which already has had its effect on “long term implications” with us now receiving a non-online only adventure. (hur dur)

Oh no the creation club will kill modding.. (it won’t) People will continue to make mods outside the status quo outside the box. They want to make some money from the inane masses? So be it the rest of us with actual skills will bypass their creation club, and continue to use modded content without a pay wall.

                Sex mods? You’ve lost me.
You need to get out much more often from that rock you live beneath.

You do know elder scrolls online exists right?

              • Evan Lazer

oh i am pretty sure you know about the sex mods he speaks of lol

              • Mischievous Emperor

                Pixel nudes? Pass!
I have the real thing right here why would I need to nerd out on some deviants mod they can only dream about interacting with the opposite sex.

              • Evan Lazer

no use in lying about it

      • Evan Lazer

many of us wanted a co-op version to play with our friends now we have it I am happy that my true lord and saviors Bethesda listened to our cries for a multiplayer version

        • Skyrim4Ever

I’m sorry to say that in retrospect: be careful for what you ask for. You might just get it.
And BGS –after seeing the billions in annual sales to be made of their Rust-Ark based PvP game–decided to listen to you and went for broke.

Wonder how long it’s going to take before the GTAO black hat modders/hackers and PvP griefer trolls begin infesting the F76 servers? LMAO

          • Mischievous Emperor

Oh no cheaters online! *That’s why I play single player games only so they can’t hurt my feelings* – S4E

          • Evan Lazer

it is said quite clearly me and my friends can make our own server so we need not worry about kids and they’re 13 dollars a month cheats 😉

            • Skyrim4Ever

Wait hang on–where did BGS? a new NoClip video? say players could make their own servers? Because BGS has yet to make this public on the Bethesda.net forum to date…..
              Can you provide a link?

              • Evan Lazer

just watch the e3 show again they clearly say you can play with just friends if you want i’try and find the exact second and repost here

    • Aleo Aninda

Give 30% to Steam, or don’t get dime from me Todd

      • Asgard

Yep this is the only reason uplay, origin and Bethesda launcher exist. Would be simply insane to give almost one third of your hundred millions income to someone else. Most people don’t recognize this.

        • Davy Aryel

But about Uplay, Ubisoft didn’t pull ther games out of Steam.

          • Evan Lazer

microsoft is doing the same thing basically and any dev team that is big enough to do it should why should anyone have to be on steam and toss 30% of they’re profits at them? If i was to ever make a game steam can go to hell

            • Mischievous Emperor

Microsoft is pushing their agenda with windows 10 marketplace which majority of actual gamers hate with a passion. I would rather have a dozen different launcher than having to deal with windows store for anything.

        • Mischievous Emperor

well that 30% pays for a lot of things besides being a marketplace. You even thought about the amount of bandwidth it would cost to deploy a game online? It’s not cheap whatsoever. Since it’s a fallout game expect the install to be at least 30GB of data.. you add that to hundrends of thousands of players who want to play the game it’s gonna cost a lot to have servers capable of distributing the game, and still have the juice to host the game w/o lag. Often times developers will use steam for their data bandwidth, and keep their own servers for gameplay, and or minor patches.

          • Evan Lazer

you do realize this is a online game and online games sell more than just the first disc or download which pays for many other things you make zero sense your trying to argue but your just not good at it

            • Mischievous Emperor

A lot of those discs have a steam installer and that’s it. A lot of those physical copies still require additional downloads via steam etc. You should do some research this isn’t the 90’s where all the content is on a disc.

              • Evan Lazer

i don’t think you read my reply all the way or even understand it try again nitwit

              • Mischievous Emperor

Sorry my reading comprehension can only handle so much garbage writing. Maybe ask someone to write it for you?

              • Evan Lazer

good control of the english language is useful but i see no need to exercise this practice on the internet when debating with troll kids 😉

      • Ossi Hurme

That 30% is actually reason to try buy outside Steam.

    • Skyrim4Ever

As Micheal Jackson was found of saying: Hehe!
Yet ANOTHER reason NOT to fuck with this latest piece of Howard’s degenerate shit.
      RIP Single Player Fallout.

      • Evan Lazer

oh quit you and me both know single player isn’t going anywhere

        • Skyrim4Ever

That’s what Rockstar said with GTA V
And the Exceptional Assholes with The Sims and Sim City 5
          Famous last words.

          • Mischievous Emperor

Rockstar and EA are both evil companies just wait until you see what they’ve done with Anthem/RDR2.

          • Evan Lazer

both companies i have never liked so woohoo win for me

      • Ossi Hurme

Does it matter when the quality is on level with Fallout 4 or worse (if that is even possible).
