Far Cry 6 Insurgency guide: How to unlock and complete this post-campaign mode

Storyline-wise, Insurgency mode exists in Far Cry 6 because of the power vacuum left behind after you’re through with the campaign. Although Libertad is, technically, in control of Yara, many of Anton Castillo’s supporters in the army won’t surrender quietly. In effect, they’ve become the new insurgency/rebel forces.

From a practical standpoint, though, it doesn’t really make sweeping changes. It’s not like a new Dani Rojas has emerged among the FND or that your camp facilities now require you to build bridges and other infrastructure in Yara.

Instead, Insurgency mode in Far Cry 6 simply causes one specific province in Yara to be controlled by the FND. It genuinely doesn’t matter if you held these spots beforehand. When you complete the game’s campaign, everything in that province except for guerrilla camps/hideouts will be under hostile control. You can see one particular example in the image above. Noventarmas became the FND-held province.

Note: A specific Insurgency lasts for a week in real-time. Important points of interest held by enemies have a white flag with red symbols/icons.

Insurgency objectives

So, what do we need to do in Far Cry 6‘s Insurgency mode? Well, for starters, you can take a look at the menu to see the tasks and individual rewards:

  • Capture 1x FND base – 1,000 XP and 500x Monedas.
  • Capture 1x checkpoints – 600 XP, 4x industrial circuits, 4x industrial composite, and 250x Monedas.
  • Blow up 2x AA cannons – 600 XP, 4x industrial circuits, 4x industrial composite, and 250x Monedas.
  • Complete Special Operation: Maceo – 1,000 XP and 500x Monedas. You can refer to our Maceo Special Operations scenario guide if you need help with this.

Note 1: Some of your foes here might be tougher due to having higher levels. I suggest bringing the best stuff in your arsenal such as the ideal Supremo device, Resolver weapons, and standard weapons.

Note 2: If you noticed in the image with the map, there’s no visible FND base in Noventarmas. That’s because I wasn’t able to spot it yet while playing. Eventually, I was able to reveal the base’s location by talking to nearby guerrilla NPCs. It’s the Yaran Marine Maintenance at the northeastern tip of the province (fairly close to Esperanza).

After completing the aforementioned tasks, the Insurgency leader’s location will be revealed. For this one, it’s the FND Special Forces Base, which is actually in the adjacent Barrial province already (I guess the game ran out of locations). The main target here is Raul Marin.

Note: If this is your first time attacking this specific base, the target won’t actually drop that opens the armory (which has an FND crate and a couple of jewelry boxes). Perhaps it’s because this foe isn’t the normal one that you’re supposed to encounter. You could still find a duplicate of the armory keycard in the tower next to the large antenna.

Yara’s Revenge and other rewards

Eliminate the main target and other hostiles to capture the base. This will complete the Insurgency for week 1 of Far Cry 6. You’ll receive lots of rewards, such as Moneda that can be used in the Special Operations Black Market, as well as a Spec Ops Key that unlocks a Dead Drop in a Special Operations scenario.

Likewise, you’ll get the Yara’s Revenge unique pistol (it doesn’t appear by default in your arsenal). It has the following perks/mods:

  • Armor-piercing Rounds – Shots penetrate helmets and body armor.
  • X-large Rectangular Suppressor – Slightly reduces weapon noise and impairs effective range; slow to overheat.
  • Press Your Advantage – Increased weapon damage versus enemies at low health.
  • Keep It Cool – Improves suppressor cooling rate.
