Ubisoft has its big, loud Far Cry 6 event earlier today to offer a first look at some gameplay. As predicted, Far Cry 6 will run the gamut of other games from the series. Guns, explosions, guerrilla warfare, vehicle combat, and deadly (and cute) animal companions await in the next game. Far Cry 6 will offer its own flavor, however, bringing in makeshift weaponry, horseback riding, and a kickass backpack with missiles. Ubisoft also confirmed the release date for Far Cry 6, which is coming to PC on October 7.
In Far Cry 6, you play as Dani Rojas. The game includes a character creator system, which allows you to pick a male or female Dani — with the latter starring in the trailer. There will be options for customization, such as clothing. In the character trailer, Dani was born and raised in the capital city of Yara, the country in which the game takes place. Once, they wanted to escape. However, after seeing the violence first-hand brought by the country’s dictator, Anton Castillo, they decided to stay and fight. And how do they go about that? Why, with guerrilla warfare, of course.
The gameplay trailer for Far Cry 6 doesn’t cover many story beats. Instead, it mainly focuses on the action and the fun and laughter of being on the losing side of a bloody conflict. Yes, this is definitely a Far Cry game. To be fair, the fun side does look, well, fun. In the game, you’re joined by fellow fighters and a mentor by the name of Juan Cortez. If you need firepower, Cortez is the one you go to. The trailer shows off some of his nasty inventions, such as a chain gun made of a motorcycle engine and a CD launcher that plays Ayy Macarena between each shot. It’s an interesting song choice. The last I heard it was in middle school. Oh god, I’m old. The trailer also briefly shows off the “Supremos” backpacks, which can fire missile volleys or burn the ground around Dani.
But forget all that, we want Chorizo
Far Cry 6 does up its usual gameplay features. Indeed, there will be animal companions to groom and unleash on enemies. You’ll be able to ride a horse into battle, if you choose. There’s also a pet crocodile, and I’m sure you can guess what the best use for that will be. But there’s no going over animal companions without talking about Chorizo, an adorable wiener dog in a wheelchair. Nothing better happen to him, so help me.
