FFXIV Patch 6.38: The PvP rebalance update, explained

Better hope your favorite PvP class didn't get nerfed.

Patch 6.38 mainly focused on physically transferring the North American Data Centers to new hardware, but the bulk of the update is focused on rebalancing PvP again, mainly Crystalline Conflict. What classes got nerfed and buffed, and what other minor adjustments were made? Here’s FFXIV Patch 6.38, explained.

FFXIV Patch 6.38: PvP changes

First of all, the time for the crystal to unbind in Crystalline Conflict matches dropped down to 20 seconds from 30. This means less time to KO the other team ahead of the push, but matches are even shorter as a result. For a mode centered around being short, that seems like an improvement. This means the soundtracks for Crystalline Conflict maps will be adjusted.

The Clockwork Castletown map in Crystalline Conflict changed a little. The chances of triggering a second pneumatic parade increased. Have fun with that.

Season five of Crystalline Conflict is over, and now it’s on to season six until patch 6.4.

The Class Nerfs

Paladin: Phalanx’s reduced damage taken changed from 50% to 33%.

Warrior: Blota’s Heavy effect duration reduced from 5 to 3 seconds.

Ninja: Fuma Shuriken, Hyosho Ranryu, and Goka Mekkyaku’s range reduced from 25 to 20 yalms.

Red Mage: The cure potency increase from White Shift reduced from 100% to 50%, the same to damage from Black Shift.

Dragoon: Sky Shatter’s potency reduced from 20,000 to 18,000.

Scholar: Adloquium’s cure potency reduced from 4,000 to 3,000.

The Class Buffs

Dragoon: Sky Shatter’s potency increase for targets within 5 yalms changed from 30,000 to 32,000. Its barrier strength changed from absorbing damage totaling 25% of maximum HP to absorbing damage equivalent to a heal of 24,000 potency.
