First major Star Wars: The Old Republic update due next week

BioWare and EA have announced the first major update for Star Wars: The Old Republic to be ‘Rise of the Rakghouls’, which will be released next Tuesday (17 January). As well as the ever-popular (and necessary) “continued balancing and bug fixes”, Rise of the Rakghouls will add a new Flashpoint and Operation for your shiny Jedi heroes (or dastardly Sith) to tackle.
The flashpoint is called Kaon under siege, in which “groups of up to four Republic or Imperial players” must race to quell the Rakghoul outbreak (Rakghouls being Sith-created demon-like creatures who create new Rakghouls by scratching and biting people). This flashpoint will have both normal and heroic modes, and will be for level 50 characters only. Because that’s just how dangerous Rakghouls are.
Meanwhile, the operation will expand Karagga’s palace to include five times as many bosses (crikey). Apparently, “teams of 8 or 16 players will face off against Karagga and the Hutt Cartel after the Hutts abandon their famous neutrality”. This operation will have normal, heroic and nightmare difficulty modes.
A couple of other changes are also mentioned, including “level 50 bracketing for PvP WarZones, the addition of anti-aliasing and changes to Open World PvP on Ilum”.
