We Are OFK, a game that mimics a musical biopic, was revealed last October. The indie team has quietly toiled away for nearly five years, but it’s now ready to launch the jam-filled game. We Are OFK is an episodic narrative adventure, with three of its episodes releasing in August. The final two will drop later in September.
We Are OFK is a game that looks to scratch a very specific itch. If you’re a fan of indie pop music and biopics showcasing how up-and-coming bands got their big break, OFK may provide. The story takes place over five episodes, with the first two arriving on August 18. It’s an interactive series that follows the music, as well as the hopes of the young artists navigating through life and love in Los Angeles. If you’ve ever felt the fear of taking the big step, or spent nights staring at a phone waiting for that reply text, We Are OFK may strike a particular chord.
“Itsumi Saito just moved Downtown and broke up with her long-term girlfriend, leaning into her dream of making it in music,” reads the game’s description on Steam. “But juggling practice, friends, a brutal commute to the west side, and a full-time job… Itsu is struggling to establish herself in the cutthroat music scene of LA. When she talks her way into a shmoozy Hollywood party and makes friends with a rising music producer, she sees a chance to bring her dreams a little closer.”
The big step
As it is a musical biopic, We Are OFK is releasing alongside a vinyl record. The gaming collectible website iam8bit is offering up a two-disc vinyl LP for pre-order now for $41.99 USD. It includes exclusive tracks and art prints. The release date announcement trailer for We Are OFK features the “Fool’s Gold” single. So give it a watch and hear for yourself if it’s something you want spinning in your turntable.
Here is the release schedule for We Are OFK:
- Episode 1 & 2: August 18
- Episode 3: August 25
- Episode 4: September 1
- Episode 5: September 8
