How to get free rewards with the Fortnite Reboot a Friend program

Bring a friend back to the battlefield.

The launch of Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 5 has seen the introduction of a variety of new content and challenges. Epic Games has also revealed a new system with the purpose of getting players back into Fortnite who have not played in a while. The Reboot a Friend program allows you to invite an old player back to Fortnite. If they play at least one match with you, yourself and your friend will begin to earn rewards.

Rebooting a friend is a relatively simple process. All you have to do is visit the Reboot a Friend website and log into your Epic Games account. Next, check down the list to see if any of your friends are eligible to be rebooted. It is important to note that the friend has to be inactive for at least 30 days to take part. You can click the Reboot option next to the eligible player’s name and then confirm your selection.

To take advantage of what the new program has to offer, you will have to play some matches with them. There are four rewards for you and your friend to unlock. After playing one match together, you will both earn a Reboot emote. Once five matches have gone by, you will unlock a new lobby track known as Key Change. The next reward is unlocked after playing 10 matches with your friend and it is a Twin Talons pickaxe. Finally, after playing 20 matches together, you will both unlock the final reward which is a holofoil wrap for your weapons.

Will the Fortnite Reboot a Friend program return in the future?

The Fortnite Reboot a Friend program will last until January 4, so you may have to be quick if you want to take part. As the feature is currently in beta form, it is likely that it will return in some way in the future. Hopefully, you have an eligible friend so you can earn these unique rewards.
