Frozenbyte has come under fire for the length of Trine 3 since its launch and they’ve to gone on camera to explain exactly why the game is the length it is and apologise to the fans.

“In hindsight I think our biggest mistake was we did not let you know that we had plans about splitting the game’s story into different parts, or that this would be a shorter game than the previous games.”

“Now that everybody hates us, our plans for the continuation of the series are completely on hold because at this point it doesn’t make any sense”.

Watching he video it sounds like they were winging it and didn’t want to commit to any future updates or content until they saw how Trine 3 sold. It’s not exactly a great way to handle planning, keeping quiet about what the game includes until you’re happy with the sales and then decide later to add paid DLC if it does well. This was a pretty large cock-up with communication more than anything else but if you’re happy with the way it plays, looks, and its length, then there’s nothing to complain about.

Watch the awkward apology for yourself.
