Genshin Impact Ayato guide — Best weapons, artifacts, and talents

Kamisato Ayato is now available in Genshin Impact. The brother of Ayaka is a 5-star Hydro character who wields a sword. Here's our Genshin Impact Ayato guide to help you with his best weapons, artifacts, talents, and build. Genshin Impact Ayato guide - Best weapons, artifacts, and talents I've divided our Genshin Impact Ayato guide into several sections. You can refer to the pages below for the parts that you need help with: Talent priorities, passives, and constellations Best weapons Best artifact sets Character ascension materials Gameplay tips and character summary Note: Ayato headlines a banner called "Azure Excursion," which also happens to include Xiangling, Sucrose, and Yun Jin. The banner runs from March 30 to April 19. Genshin Impact Ayato guide - Talent priorities and passives Let's talk about Ayato's build in Genshin Impact based on his talent priorities and passives. Normal Attack: Kamisato Art - Marobashi - These increase the damage of Ayato's normal, charged, and plunging attacks. Elemental Skill: Kamisato Art - Kyouka - Ayato enters the Takimeguri Kanka state. At the start, he'll create a water object that will explode after six seconds. As for the Takimeguri Kanka state, it provides the following effects: Ayato will use his Shunsiken. All normal attacks will deal Hydro damage (cannot be overridden). Unable to use charged or plunging attacks. Increased resistance to interruption. Lasts six seconds or when Ayato leaves the field. When Ayato's weapon hits an opponent, it will grant the Namisen effect. The damage is increased based on Ayato's max HP. Likewise, this effect can have up to four stacks, dissipating only once the elemental skill's six-second duration is over. Elemental Burst: Kamisato Art - Suiyuu - Creates an AoE field that lasts for 18 seconds. Bloomwater Blades fall down on enemies within to deal Hydro damage. Friendlies that are standing within the field gain an increase to their normal attack damage. Think of this as a combination of Ganyu's burst (i.e., a large area with falling projectiles) and Shenhe's/Bennett's (i.e., an active field that provides a damage boost, but for normal attacks only). Passive Talents Mine Wo Matoishi Kiyotaki - Using Ayato's elemental skill instantly grants two Namisen stacks. When the water illusion explodes, Ayato also obtains the maximum number of Namisen stacks. Michiyuku Hagetsu - If Ayato isn't on the field and he has less than 40 energy, he'll regenerate +2 energy every second. Daily Cooking - 18% chance to receive a "suspicious dish" of the same type when you cook something perfectly. Note: Ayato's talents require Elegance booklets from the Violet Court (Tuesday, Friday, and Sunday), as well as Nobushi Samurai handguards. At higher levels, he needs Mudra of the Malefic General dropped by the Guardian of Eternity (the Raiden Shogun weekly boss). Constellations C1: Kyouka Fuushi - Shunsiken damage (i.e., attacks made while your elemental skill is active) is increased by 40% against enemies with 50% HP or less. C2: World Source - +1 Namisen stacks (maximum of 5 stacks); +50% max HP when you have 3 Namisen stacks. C3: To Admire the Flowers - +3 levels for your elemental skill; maximum level is 15. C4: Endless Flow - +15% normal attack speed for 15 seconds for the entire party after using your burst. C5: Bansui Ichiro - +3 levels for your elemental burst; maximum level is 15. C6: Boundless Origin - After using your elemental skill, Shunsiken attacks will also create two additional Shunsiken, dealing 450% of Ayato's ATK as damage. This is not affected by the Namisen bonus from his max HP. Attempting to obtain constellations on a 5-star character can be very costly. But, if you do want to spend extra, then C2 is a good target for a decent DPS increase. If you're lucky, you might even hit C3 to improve his elemental skill coefficients further. All right, let's go to the next part of our Genshin Impact Ayato guide to talk about the best weapon options for him. Genshin Impact: The best weapon for Ayato - Haran Geppaku Futsu and other options Let's discuss the best weapons in Genshin Impact for Kamisato Ayato. Haran Geppaku Futsu (crit rate) - The Haran Geppaku Futsu can be considered as the best weapon for Ayato in Genshin Impact. Apart from the crit rate sub-stat, it provides these bonuses: +12% all elemental damage bonus. Party members that use their elemental skills will cause the wielder to gain +1 Wavespike stack (up to a maximum of +2 stacks). When the wielder uses their elemental skill, all Wavespike stacks are consumed. Each stack adds +20% normal attack damage for eight seconds. Needless to say, you're looking at two quick swaps for elemental skills (for the two stacks), followed by Ayato's own skill to proc the Wavespike buff. Given that Ayato will speedily hit foes with Shunsiken (i.e., normal attacks with Hydro damage), you're looking at a 40% damage increase. Mistsplitter Reforged (crit damage) – Mistsplitter Reforged tends to be the best-in-slot for Ayaka. However, it can also be viable for her brother. This sword provides a 12% elemental damage bonus and up to three Mistsplitter’s Emblem stacks. The Mistsplitter Emblems can be obtained when your normal attack deals elemental damage, when you use your elemental burst, and whenever your energy is less than 100%. These stacks will then provide 8/16/28% elemental damage bonus. Given that Ayato's skill will automatically infuse his normal attacks with Hydro damage, you should be able to obtain those stacks quickly. The only downside is that this is yet another 5-star weapon, and you're bound to use this on Ayaka if you already have her. Primordial Jade Cutter (crit rate) – Another viable 5-star weapon is the Primordial Jade Cutter (if you already have it). It has the all-important crit rate sub-stat, as well as an ATK% increase based on Ayato’s maximum HP (which coincides with the Namisen effect from his skill). The Black Sword (crit rate) – The 4-star Black Sword from the Gnostic Hymn Battle Pass is one of the best 4-star weapons for Ayato in Genshin Impact. It has crit rate and gives passive HP regeneration when you land crits. Likewise, it increases the damage of normal and charged attacks by 20%, including those infused by Hydro when your skill is activated. Iron Sting (elemental mastery) – Iron Sting is decent for a pure free-to-play (F2P) choice since it comes from the blacksmith. Dealing elemental damage will also increase all types of damage, and you can keep those stacks up, too. Only the elemental mastery sub-stat seems to be questionable at first glance. Prototype Rancour (Physical damage) - The Prototype Rancour's perk increases ATK and DEF when you land normal and charged attacks (stacking up to four times). The only problem is that it has Physical damage as a sub-stat. When Ayato's skill is activated, his normal attacks are automatically infused with Hydro, nullifying this sub-stat bonus completely. Okay, let's move on to the next part of our Genshin Impact Ayato guide to talk about the best artifact sets for him. Genshin Impact: The best artifact set for Ayato - Heart of Depth versus combination Gladiator's or Shimenawa's versus Echoes of an Offering Let's discuss the best artifact sets in Genshin Impact for Ayato. Heart of Depth 4-piece Heart of Depth from the Peak of Vindagnyr domain in Dragonspine provides the following boons: 2-piece set bonus: +15% Hydro damage bonus. 4-piece set bonus: +30% normal and charged attack damage for 15 seconds after using an elemental skill. Heart of Depth with ATK-boosting combo Alternatively, you can go with Heart of Depth plus another set with an ATK boost: Heart of Depth 2-piece set bonus: +15% Hydro damage bonus. Gladiator's/Shimenawa's/Echoes/Vermillion - +18% ATK. Echoes of an Offering 4-piece The new Echoes of an Offering artifact set might be viable as well, though it relies heavily on RNG procs: 2-piece set bonus: +18% ATK. 4-piece set bonus: When normal attacks hit an enemy, there's a 36% chance to trigger Valley Rite, increasing normal attack damage by 70% of your ATK stat. The effect is dispelled 0.5 seconds after a normal attack deals damage. If a normal attack doesn't trigger Valley Rite, the odds of it triggering will be subsequently increased. Artifact rolls Main stats - We're going with the basic DPS build, which means having an ATK% sands, Hydro goblet, and crit rate or crit damage circlet. Sub-stats - Focus on the usual DPS stats, such as crit rate or crit damage (with a 2:1 ratio), and ATK%. Although Ayato's Namisen effect gains an increase based on his maximum HP, his HP isn't something we should prioritize. Note: Ayato's character ascension will also increase his crit damage (up to 88.4% after ascending him past level 80), so you're more likely to focus on crit rate. In any case, let's go to the next part of our Genshin Impact Ayato guide to talk about his character ascension materials. Character ascension materials Ayato's character ascension materials can be found all over Teyvat. Here they are: Handguards - Dropped by Nobushi Samurai in Inazuma. Varunada Lazurite – Dropped by the Oceanid and Hydro Hypostasis; purchased from Souvenir Shop; higher-tier versions can be crafted by an alchemist NPC. Dew of Repudiation – Dropped by the Hydro Hypostasis. We suggest farming this elite boss instead of the Oceanid since it provides two ascension materials for Kamisato Ayato. Sakura Bloom – Similar to his sister, Kamisato Ayato also uses these flowers. You can refer to our Sakura Bloom farming guide for its locations. Note: Ayato's character ascension will also increase his crit damage (up to 88.4% after ascending him past level 80). In any case, let’s talk about what you can expect when Ayato is part of your Genshin Impact team. Gameplay tips and character summary We’ve already talked about Ayato's weapons, artifacts, and talent priorities in Genshin Impact. So, should you try to get him? As of now, it's too early to tell as I've only gotten him to level 70. He seems to be a straightforward main DPS due to the six-second elemental skill duration. But, at the same time, he's also heavily reliant on normal attacks (infused with Hydro and converted into Shunsiken). He does work with reaction comps, assuming he pops his burst before smacking everyone with his infused skill, all while another character creates the reaction. Good examples are Taser with Fischl/Beidou, or a combination of his burst and Ganyu's, both benefiting greatly from the massive AoE coverage. The main downside is that his damage, at the moment, pales in comparison to full-blast nukers like his sister Ayaka. I've also noticed that Childe, a fellow Hydro DPS, performs significantly better in encounters with a lot of mobs. Still, I'll do some more tests in the meantime.
