There’s a lot in store for those who are playing Genshin Impact. Version 1.2, “The Chalk Prince and the Dragon,” is now live. Not only does it add a new region (Dragonspine) and new characters (Albedo and Ganyu), it also gives you free Acquaint Fates used for Wishes. Here’s our mini-guide to help you out.

Genshin Impact: Obtaining your free Acquaint Fates for version 1.2
First off, make sure that Genshin Impact has already been updated to version 1.2. Then, once you log on, check your mail to get your extra primogems (you should have 600 in total as part of the maintenance period and tweaks to characters).
Now, you’ve probably noticed that you don’t have any mail that gives you Acquaint Fate. Don’t worry because you can find this in Genshin Impact‘s character menu. Go select any of your peeps and you should see a small button on the right-hand side of the screen. If you click on it, it shows you the character’s Ascension progress, Ascension materials, and the Acquaint Fates you can claim.
You can only claim one Acquaint Fate from each of the following Ascension levels/tiers:
- Ascension 1 – Level 20+
- Ascension 3 – Level 50+
- Ascension 5 – Level 70+
Note: These rewards are also retroactive. As such, if you’ve boosted a lot of characters already, you should have loads of Acquaint Fates to use up. In my case, I had over 30 waiting for me.
Still, there’s another question that might cross your mind: should you continue leveling up and ascending characters to get as many Acquaint Fates as possible? That’s totally up to you. My advice, however, is to only do the following:
- Hit Ascension 5 for the characters who’ll become very important throughout your Genshin Impact progress. Examples include S-tier and A-tier characters such as Diluc, Tartaglia/Childe, Venti, and others.
- Only reach Ascension 1 for those who likely won’t be part of high-end content like Abyssal Domains or the Spiral Abyss.
Reaching Ascension 5 (going above level 70) is very costly in terms of character leveling materials. However, reaching Ascension 1 (going above level 20) is a lot more manageable. A select few Genshin Impact characters would net you all three Acquaint Fates. Likewise, at the very least, the vast majority still give out at least one of these as a reward.
