Yanfei’s talent priorities

Recommended Videos

Yanfei’s talent priorities and constellations point to her becoming a main DPS-type character in your Genshin Impact roster.

Normal Attack: Seal of Approval – Yanfei’s normal attack shoots out fireballs and, when these hit an opponent, she gains a Scarlet Seal. The Scarlet Seals lower Yanfei’s stamina consumption and she can have a maximum of three of these at any given time. Additional hits refresh the duration of the Scarlet Seals. Now, once Yanfei does use her charged attack, it’ll consume all active Scarlet Seals doing extra AoE and direct damage. This is actually where most of her DPS output comes from, and why you want to prioritize this talent. Basically, the process entails getting the maximum number of Scarlet Seals, then blasting foes with her charged attack.

Elemental Skill: Signed Edict – Yanfei will cast flames that erupt from an area in front of her. This gives her the maximum number of Scarlet Seals. I genuinely wouldn’t level this up since this is mostly to generate the seals themselves.

Elemental Burst: Done Deal – Fires erupt around Yanfei, dealing damage to all hostiles and giving her “Brilliance.” When Brilliance is active, Yanfei gains Scarlet Seals at fixed intervals (every few seconds or so), and the damage of her charged attacks is increased. Brilliance disappears if Yanfei gets knocked out or if she leaves the field. This actually implies that she’s more of a “selfish” main DPS who needs to stay on the field longer. This should be the next talent that you prioritize (after her normal attack talent) since it also adds to the charged attack damage bonus.

Other talents:

  • Proviso – Each Scarlet Seal consumed by a charged attack increases Yanfei’s Pyro damage bonus by 5%.
  • Blazing Eye – Whenever Yanfei’s charged attack deals a critical hit, she’ll deal extra Pyro damage equal to 80% of her ATK. This counts as charged attack damage.
  • Encyclopedic Expertise – Reveals the locations of unique resources in Liyue on the minimap.

Note: Yanfei’s talent level-ups use Gold booklets and Treasure Hoarder insignias. Past level 8, you’ll need to use a new talent material called the Bloodjade Branch. This only drops from the new Azhdaha weekly boss.

Constellations

As mentioned earlier, I already wasted too many primogems getting a couple of Yanfeis. I wouldn’t want to spend more on duplicates. Anyway, here are her constellations:

  • C1: The Law Knows No Kindness – Reduces the stamina cost of charged attacks from each Scarlet Seal that’s consumed; increased resistance from interruption when using charged attacks.
  • C2: Right of Final Interpretation – +20% charged attack crit rate against enemies below 50% HP.
  • C3: Samadhi Fire-Forged – +3 levels for your elemental skill; maximum level is 15.
  • C4: Supreme Amnesty – When using your elemental burst, create a shield that absorbs up to 45% of Yanfei’s HP. The shield absorbs Pyro damage 250% more effectively.
  • C5: Abiding Affidavit – +3 levels for your elemental burst; maximum level is 15.
  • C6: Extra Clause – +1 to the maximum number of Scarlet Seals.

Personally, I would stick to just a C0 Yanfei unless you have a ton of resources (and cash) to spare. Trying to get duplicates of her now, especially if you have a maxed-out Diona or Noelle, can be very risky.

In any case, the next part of our guide talks about Yanfei’s character ascension materials.
