Genshin Impact Yoimiya guide — Weapons, artifacts, and talents

Yoimiya is a 5-star Pyro archer, and she'd probably cause Amber to retire from the game completely. You'll meet Yoimiya while doing Act I of the Inazuma Archon quest, followed by her own Carassius Auratus story quest. There's a fairly short encounter where you do get to see this fireworks-spamming heroine in action. Likewise, you have a chance to obtain her if you get lucky with her wish banner. Note 2: Information about Yoimiya has already been leaked and data-mined ahead of release (i.e., you can see this listed via Honey Hunter World/Honey Impact). Genshin Impact: The best weapon for Yoimiya Let’s talk about the best weapons that can be used by Yoimiya in Genshin Impact. Thundering Pulse (crit damage) - Among the weapon picks for Yoimiya in Genshin Impact, the expected frontrunner is the Thundering Pulse. This 5-star bow will be featured in an Epitome Invocation banner that coincides with Yoimiya's release. It's considered the best 5-star weapon for Yoimiya not just because of the crit damage sub-stat, but also because of a +20% ATK increase and the Thunder Emblem perk. The perk is somewhat similar to what you'd see in the Mistsplitter Reforged, the best-in-slot (BIS) sword for Ayaka. The weapon gains Thunder Emblem stacks when Yoimiya's normal attack deals damage, when she casts her elemental skill, and when her energy is less than 100%. In turn, these Thunder Emblem stacks/levels increase her normal attack damage by 12/24/40%. Because Yoimiya deals tremendous damage via her Pyro-infused normal attacks (while her elemental skill is active), you'll definitely want to have these stacks as often as possible. Amos Bow (ATK%) - An okay substitute (if you already have it) is the 5-star Amos Bow. Its "Strong-Willed" perk increases normal and charged attack damage by 12%. After a normal/charged attack fires an arrow, the damage is increased by 8% for every 0.1 seconds that the projectile is in the air. This stacks up to five times. Mind you, the Amos Bow is considered the BIS weapon for Ganyu. Because Ganyu's charged shot blooms still count as if the arrow is still traveling in mid-air, she'll often proc the boosted damage effect. If you don't have Ganyu, then this weapon could be used by Yoimiya, though I doubt she'd benefit as much if you're quick-firing her normal attack shots. Perhaps you'll proc it more often from her level 2 homing charged shot. Note: As usual, I'd warn players about chasing 5-star weapons. They can be very expensive to acquire even with the new Epitomized Path mechanic. Rust (ATK%) - Among the 4-star choices, Rust remains a viable weapon for Yoimiya because of the "Rapid Firing" perk. It increases your normal attack damage by a whopping 40% at its default refinement rank. Although it decreases your charged attack damage by 10%, this is negligible especially if you won't use charged shots often as Yoimiya. However, do take note that this bow is one of the better picks for Childe/Tartaglia already. Blackcliff Warbow (crit damage) - The Blackcliff Warbow from Paimon's Shop is a good option due to the stacking ATK% increase. But, this will be entirely dependent on how fast you can clear enemies, and Yoimiya's kit is primarily geared for single-target DPS. Only her burst and charged shots (without her elemental skill active) will hit multiple mobs. Windblume Ode (elemental mastery) - Elemental mastery isn't a stat that Yoimiya should prioritize. However, if you don't have other options, then you can try the Windblume Ode. It's the main reward from the Windblume Festival event (though it's ideal for someone like Fischl). The bow gives a temporary ATK increase for six seconds after using an elemental skill (which complements Yoimiya's kit). Alley Hunter (ATK%) - Alley Hunter is a good choice, at least on paper, for a sub-DPS Yoimiya. The "Oppidan Ambush" perk will increase her damage by up to 20% whenever she's not on the field (it'll decrease gradually if she's on the field for more than four seconds). A sub-DPS Yoimiya will cast her burst to empower the attacks of other characters in the party, making their abilities cause explosions. She'll then return to the field to shoot a few fire arrows to regenerate her burst before getting swapped out again. Hamayumi (ATK%) - Lastly, if you want to opt for a 4-star, purely free-to-play (F2P) option, then you can't go wrong with the Hamayumi. The Hamayumi is a reward from Takashi's treasure chests (you simply exchange three Mysterious Conches every daily reset until you get the blueprint). Then, you can learn the blueprint so you can craft the bow via the blacksmith. What makes the Hamayumi good is its "Full Draw" perk whereby normal and charged attack damage get increased by 16% and 12% respectively. If Yoimiya's energy is 100%, then the effects are doubled (32% and 24% respectively). In essence, you can turn Yoimiya into a main DPS character who primarily casts her elemental skill for Pyro-infused shots (i.e., her normal attack). Then again, you'll avoid using her elemental burst if you wish to keep the extra 100% boost. All right, let’s move on to the next part of our Genshin Impact Yoimiya guide where we'll discuss the best artifact sets for her. Genshin Impact: The best artifact sets for Yoimiya – Shimenawa's Reminisce vs. Crimson Witch vs. other options Let's take a look at some of the best artifact set combos for Yoimiya. 4-piece Shimenawa's Reminisce 2-piece bonus - +18% ATK. 4-piece bonus - When casting an elemental skill, if Yoimiya has 15 or more energy, she'll lose 15 energy to boost her normal, charged, and plunging attack damage by 50% for 10 seconds. The Shimenawa's Reminisce is a new artifact set in Genshin Impact version 2.0 and it comes from the Momiji-Dyed Court domain. It complements Yoimiya's capabilities (and Thundering Pulse’s perk) very well. The idea is to use your elemental skill whenever possible to turn your normal attacks into Pyro-infused arrows. The energy drain might make it harder to fully charge your burst, but it should be back up once the duration of your elemental skill has ended. 4-piece Crimson Witch of Flames 2-piece bonus: +15% Pyro damage. 4-piece bonus: +40% overloaded and burning damage; +15% melt and vaporize damage. Using your elemental skill increases the 2-piece set bonus by 50% of its starting value (max 3x stacks). The Crimson Witch of Flames set (from the Hidden Palace of Zhou Formula domain) is a decent option for those who'll use Yoimiya as part of reaction-heavy team comps (or if you're still collecting decent Shimenawa's Reminisce drops). The only downside is that her elemental skill has a 10-second duration and an 18-second cooldown, which means you won't be able to maximize the stacks. 2-piece Crimson Witch of Flames + 2-piece Gladiator's Finale/Shimenawa's Reminisce This is the usual cookie-cutter combo for all Genshin Impact characters who rely on elemental DPS. You've got the +18% ATK bonus, as well as the +15% Pyro damage bonus. 4-piece Lavawalker You're not going to need the 40% Pyro resistance from the 2-piece bonus. Instead, you're looking at the 35% damage increase against enemies affected by Pyro. This set is simply a substitute if you had better/leveled rolls for these drops, and if you don't have good Shimenawa items yet. 4-piece Martial Artist 2-piece bonus - +15% normal and charged attack damage. 4-piece bonus - +25% normal and charged attack damage for eight seconds after using an elemental skill. Although the overall stats won't be high enough (i.e., 4-star artifacts vs. 5-star artifacts), the Martial Artist set is viable for those who are just starting out. You can get it from the Hidden Palace of Zhou Formula and Ridge Watch domains. Artifact stats Here are the ideal artifact rolls for Yoimiya: Main stats – Pyro damage for the goblet and ATK% for the sands. For the circlet, choose either crit rate or crit damage depending on what you’re lacking. Don't forget that Yoimiya's crit rate slightly increases from her level ups/ascensions. Sub-stats – Crit rate/crit damage and ATK%. Anyway, let's discuss talent priorities and constellations in the next part of our Genshin Impact Yoimiya guide. Yoimiya’s talent priorities Let’s discuss Yoimiya’s capabilities and talent priorities. Normal Attack: Firework Flare-Up - This boosts Yoimiya's normal, charged, and plunging attack damage. What's unique is that her charged attack has two levels: Level 1 - Shoots a Pyro arrow. Level 2 - Creates three Kindling Arrows based on the time spent charging the shot. The Kindling Arrows will home in on nearby enemies. Niwabi Enshou - This is Yoimiya's elemental skill which has a 10-second duration and an 18-second cooldown. While it's active, her shots will turn into Blazing Arrows. These are considered normal attacks, but they'll be Pyro-infused as well (which is why we're looking at weapons that boost normal attack damage or ATK%). Oh, and her charged shots will no longer generate Kindling Arrows. Basically, you'll press "E," then you'll just left-click to keep shooting foes with flaming projectiles. Ryuukin Saxifrage - This is Yoimiya's elemental burst. She'll jump into the air and blast nearby hostiles with rockets. Then, one enemy will be marked with Aurous Blaze. Party members (anyone but Yoimiya) could hit the enemy marked with Aurous Blaze with any attack or ability to cause an AoE Pyro explosion every two seconds. The Aurous Blaze effect lasts 10 seconds, and it can automatically expire if Yoimiya is downed. Considering the duration and explosive effects, you can expect four to five AoE blasts caused by other characters. The gist is that Yoimiya’s elemental skill emphasizes her role as a main DPS character. Meanwhile, focusing on her elemental burst makes her viable as an enabler or sub-DPS. Note: Yoimiya's talents require Transcience booklets (from the Violet Court domain every Monday, Thursday, and Sunday), as well as Samachurl scrolls. At higher levels, you'll need the Dragon Lord's Crown from Azhdaha. Passive talents: Blazing Match - 100% chance to refund a portion of the materials used when Yoimiya crafts furnishings. Tricks of the Troublemaker - While her elemental skill is active, Yoimiya's normal attacks will increase her Pyro damage bonus by 2% per hit. This lasts for three seconds and can stack up to 10 times. Summer Night's Dawn - When Yoimiya uses her elemental burst, all party members other than Yoimiya gain +10% ATK for 15 seconds. They'll also receive a 1% ATK bonus for every Tricks of the Troublemaker stack that Yoimiya has before she casts her burst. Constellations As is expected, trying to increase a 5-star character's Constellations in Genshin Impact will be very expensive: C1: Agate Ryuukin - Increases the duration of the Aurous Blaze created by the elemental burst for four seconds. When an enemy affected by the Aurous Blaze is defeated, Yoimiya's ATK is increased by 20% for 20 seconds. C2: A Procession of Bonfires - Whenever Yoimiya's Pyro damage deals a critical hit, she'll gain a 25% Pyro damage bonus for six seconds. This can be triggered even when Yoimiya isn't on the field. C3: Trickster's Flare - +3 levels for your elemental skill; maximum level is 15. C4: Pyrotechnic Professional - Whenever Aurous Blaze explodes, Yoimiya's elemental skill cooldown is decreased by 1.2 seconds. C5: A Summer Festival's Eve - +3 levels for your elemental burst; maximum level is 15. C6: Naganohara Meteor Swarm - During her elemental skill, Yoimiya's normal attacks have a 50% chance to shoot a Kindling Arrow dealing 60% of its damage. Anyway, let's talk about character ascension materials in the next part of our Genshin Impact Yoimiya build guide. Character ascension materials Yoimiya’s character ascension materials can be found all over Teyvat. Here they are: Scrolls - Dropped by Samachurl mobs. Agnidus Agate - Dropped by the Pyro Regisvine and Pyro Hypostasis; purchased from Souvenir Shop; higher-tier versions can be crafted by an alchemist NPC. Smoldering Pearl - Dropped by the Pyro Hypostasis. Naku Weed - Found in all zones in Inazuma. You can check our Naku Weed farming guide for more info. Note: Yoimiya gains extra crit rate from certain ascension/leveling thresholds (up to a maximum of 24.2% crit rate). Anyway, let’s talk about what you can expect when Yoimiya is part of your Genshin Impact team. Gameplay tips and character summary We’ve discussed Yoimiya's weapons, artifacts, and talent priorities in an in-depth manner already. Is she actually a decent 5-star character in Genshin Impact? To be honest, Yoimiya's kit is a bit odd. Several weapon choices (i.e., Thundering Pulse, Amos Bow, Hamayumi, and Rust) all point to turning her into a main DPS character. As such, most of her output will come from her Pyro-infused shots (i.e., Blazing Arrows) whenever her elemental skill, Niwabi Enshou, is active. What about her elemental burst, the Ryuukin Saxifrage and Aurous Blaze mark? Well, this is where things get even trickier. Her elemental burst deals AoE Pyro damage, but you also need to swap her out so that your other characters can cause the Aurous Blaze explosions. Ideally, this should be done when her elemental skill’s duration has ended (there’s a gap of eight seconds before the skill is off-cooldown). On the bright side, Aurous Blaze explosions can occur even with Yoimiya on the field as long as there are lingering abilities. Examples include Mona's totem, C6 Fischl's Oz, Xiangling's Guoba/Pyronado, Xingqiu's Rain Swords, and others. Still, even though I've tested Yoimiya a bit (i.e., Rust, level 7 talents, and the 4-piece Shimenawa's Reminisce set with subpar rolls), I found her underwhelming. She can quickly pepper mobs with flaming arrows, sure, but the single-target DPS is what truly sets her back. Considering that high-end activities in Genshin Impact focus heavily on AoE damage and crowd control, Yoimiya is outclassed by other options. https://www.youtube.com/watch?vAtqToYEE5r4 Genshin Impact is available via its official website.
