GOG.com started its Winter Sale today. The DRM-free giant is featuring discounts on over 2,500 games, some of which are 95 percent off. The deal starts today and runs until January 2, 2020. You can get in on the action without spending a dime, though. In celebration of its winter sale, GOG is giving away Wasteland 2 Director’s Cut for free for the next 48 hours.

You don’t have to purchase anything; the game is free regardless. It’s also the Digital Classic Edition, which includes the original Wasteland, too. If you’re unfamiliar, Wasteland is a turn-based post-apocalyptic role-playing game. It was the precursor to the original two Fallout games, and although there was a sequel called Fountain of Dreams, it didn’t do well.

More than 20 years after the original release, the developers of the original Wasteland put out Wasteland 2 under a new studio name. The game was crowdfunded on Kickstarter, and after positive critical reception, InXile Entertainment started work on a third game. With Wasteland 3 around the corner in 2020, there’s never been a better time to play through the first two.

Other games on sale at GOG

Wasteland 2 will get you in the door, but the other deals should keep you around. GOG has a ton of titles on sale, including recently released games like GreedFall, Ashen, and Age of Wonders: Planetfall. Created by CD Projekt Red, a number of excellent role-playing games are on sale, too. These include The Witcher 3: Game of the Year Edition at only $14.99 USD.

Even more exciting are the bundles. You can purchase up to 15 indie titles from the last two years at a discounted price. The whole bundle will run just over $200 USD, but it features games like Dawn of Man, Battlestar Galactic Deadlock, and Bloodstained: Ritual of the NightParadox Interactive has a bundle, too, and it’s more than just the current Humble Bundle offeringStellaris, Imperator: Rome, Age of Wonders: Planetfall, Surviving Mars, and Battletech are being offered for only $70.

The best deal comes from CD Projekt Red’s own Ultimate RED bundle, which features all three Witcher games, Thronebreak: The Witcher Tales, and Cyberpunk 2077 for under $90 USD. You’ll have to act fast on that offer, though, as it’s only available until Dec. 27.

As is the case with all GOG games, the ones on sale come DRM-free, meaning you don’t need to activate them or log in to play. GOG offers its Galaxy platform if you’re interested in organizing your library or tracking achievements, but it’s not required to play.
