Ghost Song — Where to find the wall jump

It's always spikes

Every Metroid-like has that one ability that lets you basically go anywhere. Metroid has the Space Jump, which lets Samus practically spin through the air. Symphony of the Night straight-up lets Alucard turn into a bat. But Ghost Song has a wall jump. You have to find this before you can get to the yellow, pink, and red ship parts, but you can technically also grab it before you even find the green and blue ones, depending on how set on not following the intended sequence. In case you’d like to grab it early, here’s where to find the wall jump ability — via the Ankle Spikes — in Ghost Song.

How to find the Ankle Spikes in Ghost Song and get the wall jump ability

There’s a specific location you need to navigate towards in order to find the ability. Below, you’ll see two images — the left is the map location, and the right is the item in question.

In Ghost Song, the wall jump comes courtesy of an item called Ankle Spikes, which sounds thoroughly uncomfortable, if you ask me. Once Deadsuit’s ankles touch a wall, she’ll be able to bounce off and then bounce onto a higher one. With these, you can go anywhere in the game. If you get them before you find the blue ship part, you can actually wall jump up the sheer cliff next to it, grab it, and then go back where you came without even going through the main area that you’re supposed to see beforehand. I discovered this on my first playthrough and was quite surprised.

One last thought before you proceed

Keep in mind that, if you’re not sufficiently prepared, getting the Ankle Spikes might prove to be a bit dangerous. Before you get them, there’s a section where you have to run from some bugs that continue to rise out of the ground. Don’t bother fighting these — just run. You’ll eventually come to a breakable wall that you should unload your missiles on. If you run out of energy, start hitting the wall with your melee weapon. Then jump up on the nearest platform and the bugs can’t get you. Then you’ll have the wall jump in Ghost Song and all will be right with the world.
