God of War: Ascension had development budget of $50 million

It seems that Sony spent a lot of money on God of War: Ascension

Speaking with German site 20 Minuten via a google translate, the games lead producer Whitney Wade said that the 6th game in the franchise cost “a mid double-digit amount” which would put it at around $50 million

It is around the same amount that the previous game in the series, God of War 3 cost to make, but while that game sold around 5 millions copies, Ascension has not faired as well, only coming fourth on the NPD’s March charts (around 570,000 copies sold)

While that may seem a lot of money for a video game (and indeed it is), recent examples such as Grand Theft Auto 4 was reported to have cost over $100 million
