Gotham Knights will have a bigger map than any of the Arkham games

Gotham's never been bigger.

Gotham Knights is shaping up to be a pretty big game in more ways than one. Not only will you be able to play as four distinct characters, but Gotham Knights will also feature a bigger map than any of the Batman: Arkham games. In fact, Gotham Knights will feature the “biggest version of Gotham that has been represented in video games.”

This was confirmed by executive producer Fleur Marty and game director Geoff Ellenor in an interview with Game Informer. The interview goes into detail about many parts of the upcoming title. This includes story details, customization, and more. However, the mention of the map size is certainly one of the more interesting parts when it comes to Gotham Knights.

Gotham Knights has a big map

When it comes to Batman games, each one tries to up the ante to a certain extent. Batman: Arkham Knight was the previous one to do this. It featured a rich and diverse Gotham with plenty to explore. And if you compare the size of that game to Arkham City, it was a massive step-up. So hearing that Gotham Knights is going to have an even bigger map is both exciting and slightly nerve-wracking.

While we haven’t yet seen an official map for Gotham Knights, we can still get a general idea of its scale. A previous trailer that featured Nightwing and Red Hood showed off various bits of gameplay, but the most interesting part was a chase conducted by Red Hood. The trailer showed that Gotham City has plenty of long roads and highways that make up its streets. Just from this, you can tell that the map may be pretty big.

There were other useful bits of information from the interview as well. It’s been confirmed that more than one player can use the same character. So, if you and your friend both want to be Nightwing, that’s fine. Marty and Ellenor also discussed how Batcycle customization will work in the game. While you won’t be able to tweak the individual parts of the vehicles, you can change the colorways to match the outfits of your characters. Gotham Knights certainly looks like it’ll do some cool things, and we’ll get to see its full scope later this year.

Gotham Knights is scheduled to release on PC on October 25.
