Grim Dawn alpha “in the next month or two” say Crate

Crate Entertainment had aimed to get an alpha test out to Kickstarter backers for their ARPG Grim Dawn some time in Q1 of 2013 and according to the team, progress has been slower than expected.

In a lengthy progress report update it appears that animation has been a key issue since late last year with the part-time animators getting swamped at their full time jobs. There is some good news, a full-time animator has now joined the team in-house so the animation delays should be a thing of the past.

Development appears to have also been slowed slightly by the addition of new features such as the NPC helpers and quests but that does mean a more polished feature packed ARPG should emerge for the alpha. There sounds like there’s still work to be done with testing to get the game to a playable state but Crate do say that they are looking to get the alpha live “in the next month or two”.
