Carven Palace: The second floor’s platforming puzzles

Recommended Videos

You’re now on the second floor of the Carven Palace zone in Grime.

Take out the two Servant mobs that you see and make another mental note of this area.

There are actually ledges that lead to a secret passage in the ceiling. Unfortunately, the puzzles there require an ability from a boss.

Instead, make your way to the left past the spike traps. Beware of the electrified ones since these will despawn you if you touch them.

You’ll reach the main area with a switch that you can pull. This will bring the elevator to the second floor. Sadly, the door to the left is currently locked.

Note: You can revisit the first floor, make the elevator go up, and grab a few collectibles there. However, I’ll discuss these tidbits in another section of our Grime Carven Palace guide.

For now, assuming you’re still on the second floor, use the elevator to go down. Be on the lookout for openings to the left and right. On the right side, you’ll find Heod (buy some stuff from him if you want). There’s a rock wall here that can only be broken from the opposite side.

On the left side, there’s a room with Servant mobs. It leads to another platforming puzzle.

Note: Be forewarned that there’s no mechanism to call the elevator while in these areas. Your character will take fall damage if you try to jump down, and your only recourse is to continue advancing or destroy your vessel to respawn at the save point.

Anyway, the puzzle here requires you to use your air dashes and ledge pulls to reach the top of the chamber (watch out for spikes and barbs). You’ll find the lever and moveable platform here.

The goal is to pull it until it reaches the bottom. Oh, and make sure you quickly pull it whenever it’s close to a gap/frayed wire.

Note: There’s also a secret opening right above where the platform spawns. We’ll talk more about this spot in the secrets section of our Grime Carven Palace guide.

Continue getting it to move as it loops around. Use the ladders to avoid getting electrocuted.

Once you reach the top, you’ll fight the Disciple. It can’t be absorbed for a unique skill/trait, but you do gain a Hunt Point from it.

Follow the corridor which leads to a brightly lit room. You can now open the door from earlier (the one that leads back to the main area with the elevator shaft).

Use your air dash and ledge pulls to avoid the barbs.

You’ve almost reached the third floor. The problem is that the next couple of rooms are swarming with mobs. Fight or flight? The choice is up to you, but keep climbing up.

Note: The beacon for the Carven Palace is behind the locked door, but we can’t open it from this side.

Eventually, you’ll encounter another platforming puzzle at the top of the chamber. There’s a sword-throwing Servant on the platform, but you can pull it to make the enemy fall. If you can climb on the platform and push it back to the corner, you’ll find an Unformed Torso (1,500 mass).

As usual, keep making the platform move until it reaches the top. There are also some mobs here, as well as a crystal with a Motley Pearl.

Once the coast is clear, ride the platform until you reach the third floor. Let’s talk about that section in the next part of our Grime Carven Palace guide.
