GTA 5 will debut a new radio station on PC

The PC version of GTA 5 has been an awfully long time in coming (the latest date is 14 April,) but at least Rockstar has chosen to toss our platform a new in-game radio station.

‘The Lab,’ featuring music by The Alchemist and Oh No (in partnership with Woody Jackson and Tangerine Dream) and with guest appearances from “across the musical spectrum” like Earl Sweatshirt, Little Dragon, Phantogram, Freddie Gibbs, Popcaan, Killer Mike, Tunde Adebimpe and Samuel T. Herring (from Future Islands) will be available on the Los Santos radio dial in GTA 5 on PC.

Rockstar frames this as “debuting with the PC version,” which makes it sound like we’re getting it early. That may just be vague wording mind you.

In addition, the “genre-spanning” new tracks will be available within the Rockstar Editor on PC. This means you’ll be able to use them to soundtrack your custom video presentations.

A standalone Welcome to Los Santos album featuring the new music will be released on 21 April, a week or so after GTA 5 on PC.

Thanks to the magic of Soundcloud embedding, you can hear the first track from the album below. It’s called “Play it Cool” – a collaborative effort between Gangrene (The Alchemist and Oh No,) Samuel T. Herring (from Future Islands) and Earl Sweatshirt.
