ArenaNet set to reveal details about Guild Wars 2: End of Dragons expansion

It is not truly an end, but a new beginning.

ArenaNet, the developer of Guild Wars 2, has just announced that it will reveal the first details about the MMORPG’s upcoming End of Dragons expansion on July 27. Before the big announcement, players can also look forward to a summer packed with in-game events. The order of these events has been detailed in a Guild Wars 2 summer roadmap.

On July 27, the Guild Wars 2 team will host a live stream to share the new details about End of Dragons. The stream will cover the third expansion’s setting and story. It will also provide eager players with details about upcoming beta events. More specifically, when you can participate in them.

Fans of the game have been waiting a long time for Guild Wars 2’s next expansion. It will be set in the lands of Cantha, which longtime players may remember from the original Guild Wars’ Factions expansion.

To tide you over until the End of Dragons details are revealed, ArenaNet has three new pieces of concept art. You can see one in the feature image above. You can see the other two below.

The first step on the journey is a skills and balance update to the game’s Professions and Elite Specializations on May 11. ArenaNet says this will shake up the meta and force players to consider new character builds.

Following that balance update will be a promotional period where any player can log in to receive free access to past Living World episodes. The episodes will release weekly in chronological order, so it’s going to be a busy time if you’re playing catchup.

Players who have already experienced the Living World episodes will still want to get involved, because a new meta-achievement will be added. Completing this will unlock unique rewards, including a voucher for a Guild Wars 2: End of Dragons Legendary precursor weapon.

On July 13, a fan favorite boss will return to the game in a limited-time bonus event. For the first time since 2014, players will be able to battle the Twisted Marionette. The boss will be rebalanced and updated to match the current standard of Guild Wars 2.

The Legendary Armory will also be added to the MMORPG on July 13. This new feature makes storing and managing your Legendary items a lot easier. Once you add a Legendary to the Armory, it will be available to every level 80 character on your account.

In the buildup to Guild Wars 2: End of Dragons, there will also be plenty of experience bonuses for both PvE and PvP. A Fractal Rush community event is planned. Players can also look forward to the next edition of the annual Dragon Bash festival.
