Andrey “Reynad” Yanyuk has spoken out on the witch hunt that has driven fellow Hearthstone professional player ‘MagicAmy’ away from the competitive scene, and he is justifiably irate.
As has come to light, the witch hunt following allegations Hyerim “MagicAmy” Lee was a fraudulent player was proven false, following extensive investigation by her team TempoStorm, which included Reynard.
We won’t run down the accusations here, as it’s moot to do so, but as Reynard points out, many in the community took hearsay and speculation as fact all throughout, and MagicAmy was subject to harassment and pressure to quit.
Reynard explains it took them three days to investigate, and they talked to 36 people, to confirm that MagicAmy is who she says she is, and that she wasn’t a fraud.
Ultimately, MagicAmy left the Hearthstone community for no good reason, and this sets a precedent that discourages women from entering the scene in the future. It’s a detriment to Hearthstone, the competitive community, PC gaming, and all gaming as a whole.
You can watch Reynard sound off on the issue here. Warning for explicit language below.
